شدد بابا الفاتيكان البابا ليو الرابع عشر، اليوم (الأحد)، على ضرورة إنهاء الصراع الإسرائيلي-الفلسطيني، داعياً جميع الأطراف المعنية إلى الالتزام بعملية السلام، وقال: «الحاجة مُلحة لإنهاء الصراع وإقامة سلام عادل ودائم».
تطلعات لنتائج إيجابية
كما أعرب بابا الفاتيكان، خلال كلمة له في ساحة القديس بطرس، عن أمله في أن تحقق الجهود الدبلوماسية لإنهاء الحرب في غزة «النتائج المرغوبة قريباً»، مشيداً بالتقدم الكبير في المفاوضات بين إسرائيل وحركة حماس.
ويأتي هذا الموقف في ظل تصاعد الجهود الدولية، بما في ذلك خطة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب المكونة من 20 نقطة، وسط استمرار الأزمة الإنسانية في القطاع.
وقف النار وإطلاق الرهائن
وخلال خطابه قال البابا ليو: «في الساعات الأخيرة، ووسط الوضع الدراماتيكي في الشرق الأوسط، تم اتخاذ خطوات كبيرة إلى الأمام في مفاوضات السلام، التي آمل أن تحقق قريباً النتائج المرغوبة».
كما جدد دعوته إلى وقف إطلاق نار دائم في الصراع المستمر منذ نحو عامين، وإطلاق سراح الرهائن المحتجزين في غزة، مشدداً على ضرورة حماية المدنيين وتسهيل وصول المساعدات الإنسانية، وأشار إلى أن «المعاناة في غزة تتطلب استجابة عاجلة من المجتمع الدولي».
إشادة بخطة ترمب
وكان البابا ليو، أشاد الأسبوع الماضي بخطة ترمب لوقف الحرب في غزة، المكونة من 20 نقطة، معرباً عن أمله أن تقبلها حماس، وقال في بيان رسمي نشرته صحيفة «لوسيرفاتوري رومانو» الفاتيكانية: «إن هذه الخطة تمثل فرصة حقيقية لإنهاء المعاناة وإعادة بناء الأمل في غزة».
وتشمل خطة ترمب إطلاق سراح جميع الرهائن الإسرائيليين (48 رهينة، 20 منهم أحياء) خلال 72 ساعة مقابل إطلاق 250 فلسطينياً محكوماً بالمؤبد و1700 معتقل، مع وقف إطلاق نار مؤقت، وتسليم غزة لسلطة فلسطينية تقنية، وإعادة إعمار القطاع تحت إشراف دولي برئاسة ترمب.
Pope Francis, the Pope of the Vatican, emphasized today (Sunday) the necessity of ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, calling on all parties involved to commit to the peace process. He said, "The need is urgent to end the conflict and establish a just and lasting peace."

During his speech in St. Peter's Square, the Pope expressed hope that diplomatic efforts to end the war in Gaza would "achieve the desired results soon," praising the significant progress in negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
This stance comes amid escalating international efforts, including U.S. President Donald Trump's 20-point plan, as the humanitarian crisis in the region continues.
Ceasefire and Release of Hostages
During his speech, Pope Francis stated, "In recent hours, amid the dramatic situation in the Middle East, significant steps forward have been taken in peace negotiations, which I hope will soon yield the desired results."
He also reiterated his call for a permanent ceasefire in the ongoing conflict that has lasted for nearly two years, and for the release of hostages held in Gaza, stressing the need to protect civilians and facilitate humanitarian aid access. He pointed out that "the suffering in Gaza requires an urgent response from the international community."
Praise for Trump's Plan
Last week, Pope Francis praised Trump's 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza, expressing hope that it would be accepted by Hamas. In an official statement published by the Vatican's "L'Osservatore Romano," he said, "This plan represents a real opportunity to end the suffering and rebuild hope in Gaza."
The Trump plan includes the release of all Israeli hostages (48 hostages, 20 of whom are alive) within 72 hours in exchange for the release of 250 Palestinians sentenced to life imprisonment and 1,700 detainees, along with a temporary ceasefire, handing Gaza over to a technical Palestinian authority, and rebuilding the sector under international supervision led by Trump.
