أيّدت الدورة 69 للمؤتمر العام للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية، القرار المصري الخاص بتطبيق ضمانات الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية في الشرق الأوسط، اليوم (الجمعة)، بأغلبية ساحقة.
وذكر بيان لمكتب المتحدث باسم الخارجية المصرية أن 120 دولة صوّتت لصالح القرار المصري في انعكاس للدعم الدولي الواسع للقرار وأهدافه الذي يطالب بإخضاع جميع المنشآت النووية في الشرق الأوسط لنظام الضمانات للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية دون استثناء، وانضمام جميع دول المنطقة إلى معاهدة منع الانتشار النووي، وإنشاء منطقة خالية من الأسلحة النووية بالشرق الأوسط.
وتبذل مصر جهوداً حثيثة لتحقيق نزع السلاح ومنع الانتشار النووي، خصوصاً في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، والدفع نحو تحقيق معاهدة منع الانتشار النووي، وإنشاء منطقة خالية من الأسلحة النووية وغيرها من أسلحة الدمار الشامل بالشرق الأوسط، فضلاً عن وفاء المجتمع الدولي بمسؤولياته في تنفيذ جميع الالتزامات القانونية بالمعاهدة.
The 69th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) today (Friday) overwhelmingly supported the Egyptian resolution regarding the application of IAEA safeguards in the Middle East.
A statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson indicated that 120 countries voted in favor of the Egyptian resolution, reflecting broad international support for the resolution and its objectives, which call for subjecting all nuclear facilities in the Middle East to the IAEA safeguards system without exception, for all countries in the region to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and for the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East.
Egypt is making diligent efforts to achieve disarmament and prevent nuclear proliferation, particularly in the Middle East, and is pushing for the realization of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the establishment of a zone free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East, as well as for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in implementing all legal obligations under the treaty.
