The battlefronts in Yemen witnessed a new military escalation today (Monday), with eight airstrikes launched on sites belonging to the Houthi militia west of the city of Taiz, coinciding with the announcement by government forces of their control over a high location. Meanwhile, two ballistic missiles fired by the militia fell near displacement camps in the Salah al-Din area of Aden governorate, raising concerns about the safety of hundreds of families.
Airstrikes on Houthi Positions
In Taiz, warplanes targeted Houthi positions and fortifications in the Al-Salih, Al-Khazan, and Al-Hayaj hills west of the city, as part of ongoing military movements on the western front. Local media reports indicated that the eight airstrikes targeted militia sites and gatherings around Mount Han and the Al-Dabab area.
In a field development, government forces announced their control over the Al-Midan hill overlooking the Al-Dabab area west of the city of Taiz, a move that would strengthen their positions on the western front, which has been witnessing continuous confrontations between government forces and the Houthis.
These developments come as an extension of the escalation witnessed on the Taiz fronts in recent days, with airstrikes targeting Houthi sites, gatherings, and military vehicles, alongside ground confrontations in the vicinity of the city.
Missiles Near Displacement Camps
In Aden, Yemen's Minister of Information, Muammar Al-Eryani, announced the fall of two ballistic missiles fired by the Houthi militia near displacement camps in the Salah al-Din area, warning that they threaten the lives of hundreds of families who were forced to leave their homes due to the war.
Al-Eryani stated that the falling of the missiles near populated areas and displacement camps exposes civilians, especially women and children, to additional risks, calling for measures to protect the displaced and hold accountable those responsible for targeting the areas surrounding their camps.
