The adventure of a 27-year-old American man ended tragically after he fell from a height of nearly 700 feet in a rugged mountainous area in Utah; due to a sudden malfunction in the wingsuit he was using, he lost the necessary lift to continue flying and control his trajectory.
The young man fell in the (Letham Hollow) area of Hyrum, where rescue teams quickly arrived at the site, but they pronounced him dead on the spot due to the severe injuries he sustained after hitting the ground at high speed.
Authorities reported that the victim was experienced in this high-risk sport and was participating in a group jump with a team of about ten enthusiasts who were accustomed to jumping from the famous heights and rocky slopes in the area. A medical helicopter also participated in transporting the body and continuing the search operations.
This incident highlights the increasing risks associated with skydiving and wingsuit flying, which have recorded dozens of fatalities worldwide in recent years, raising questions once again about the safety standards followed in activities that attract thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies.
