كشفت الأجهزة الأمنية في العراق واحدة من أكثر الحوادث غرابة خلال الأيام الأخيرة، بعدما تبيّن أن رجلاً خطط لاختفائه بنفسه لتنفيذ عملية ابتزاز واسعة ضد زوجته وعائلته، مطالباً بفدية مالية ضخمة بلغت 350 مليون دينار، ما يعادل نحو 240 ألف دولار أمريكي.
وبحسب بيان صادر عن الشرطة العراقية، فإن المتهم اختفى عمداً من موقع عمله بمساعدة شخص آخر، قبل أن ينتقل إلى محافظة ديالى ويبدأ التواصل مع عائلته عبر رسائل واتصالات صاغها بعناية ليقنعهم بأنه محتجز لدى جماعة مسلحة، في محاولة لخلق حالة ذعر تدفعهم إلى الإسراع بتأمين المبلغ.
وأشارت التحقيقات الأولية إلى أن المتهم ظل لأيام يرسل تهديدات متتالية، مدّعياً أن «خاطفيه» يضيقون الخناق عليه، بينما كانت الجهات الأمنية تتبع تحركاته بدقة داخل المحافظة، قبل أن تتمكن من تحديد موقعه الحقيقي وتلقي القبض عليه من دون أي مقاومة.
ووفق مصادر أمنية، فقد اعترف المتهم خلال الاستجواب بأن الحادثة كانت «مسرحية كاملة»؛ بهدف الحصول على المال، نافياً وجود أي تهديد فعلي على حياته، فيما تواصل السلطات مراجعة سجل اتصالاته؛ للتأكد من عدم وجود مشاركين آخرين في المخطط.
وتؤكد الجهات المختصة أن الإجراءات القانونية ماضية لاستكمال ملف القضية وكشف جميع ملابسات الحادثة، التي أثارت ضجة واسعة على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي.
The security forces in Iraq revealed one of the strangest incidents in recent days, after it became clear that a man had planned his own disappearance to carry out an extensive extortion scheme against his wife and family, demanding a hefty ransom of 350 million dinars, equivalent to about 240,000 US dollars.
According to a statement issued by the Iraqi police, the suspect deliberately disappeared from his workplace with the help of another person, before moving to Diyala province and starting to communicate with his family through carefully crafted messages and calls to convince them that he was being held by an armed group, in an attempt to create a state of panic that would push them to quickly secure the amount.
Initial investigations indicated that the suspect sent successive threats for days, claiming that his "captors" were tightening the noose around him, while security forces were closely tracking his movements within the province, before they managed to pinpoint his actual location and arrest him without any resistance.
According to security sources, the suspect admitted during interrogation that the incident was a "complete theatrical performance" aimed at obtaining money, denying any actual threat to his life, while authorities continued to review his call records to ensure there were no other participants in the scheme.
Relevant authorities confirm that legal procedures are underway to complete the case file and uncover all the circumstances surrounding the incident, which has sparked widespread attention on social media platforms.
