في ظل موجة حر قياسية تضرب البلاد، أعلنت السلطات العراقية تعطيل الدوام الرسمي يوم الأحد 27 يوليو 2025 في سبع محافظات جنوبية، على رأسها البصرة وميسان وذي قار، إضافة إلى كربلاء، ديالى، وصلاح الدين، فيما اتخذت محافظات أخرى إجراءات لتقليص ساعات العمل الحكومية تجنباً لتداعيات ارتفاع درجات الحرارة.
وبحسب هيئة الأنواء الجوية العراقية، فقد سجلت بعض المناطق الجنوبية درجات حرارة فاقت 52 درجة مئوية، وهو ما يُعد من أعلى المعدلات المسجلة في تاريخ البلاد، فيما حذّرت جهات صحية من مخاطر التعرض المباشر لأشعة الشمس وناشدت المواطنين بالبقاء في أماكن مكيفة وتجنب الخروج في أوقات الذروة.
وفي الوقت الذي شهدت مواقع التواصل تداول أنباء عن توقعات بوصول الحرارة إلى 65 درجة مئوية، نفت الهيئة الرسمية تلك المزاعم، مؤكدة أن هذه التقديرات غير واقعية ولا تستند إلى أي مصدر علمي موثوق.
تأتي هذه الإجراءات في وقت تشهد المنطقة موجة حر شديدة تؤثر على مختلف دول الشرق الأوسط، وسط تحذيرات من تصاعد الظواهر المناخية المتطرفة نتيجة التغير المناخي العالمي.
Amid a record heatwave hitting the country, Iraqi authorities announced the suspension of official working hours on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in seven southern governorates, led by Basra, Maysan, and Dhi Qar, in addition to Karbala, Diyala, and Salah al-Din. Other governorates have also taken measures to reduce government working hours to avoid the repercussions of rising temperatures.
According to the Iraqi Meteorological Authority, some southern regions recorded temperatures exceeding 52 degrees Celsius, which is considered one of the highest rates recorded in the country's history. Health authorities warned of the dangers of direct exposure to sunlight and urged citizens to stay in air-conditioned places and avoid going out during peak hours.
While social media circulated news about predictions of temperatures reaching 65 degrees Celsius, the official authority denied those claims, confirming that these estimates are unrealistic and not based on any reliable scientific source.
These measures come at a time when the region is experiencing a severe heatwave affecting various countries in the Middle East, amid warnings of escalating extreme weather phenomena due to global climate change.
