The Al-Qadisiyah team overcame their guest and neighbor Al-Khaleej with a score of two goals to one in the match held at Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam as part of the third round "Our Pride is Our Nature" of the Roshan Saudi Professional League.
Al-Qadisiyah's goals were scored by: Italian Matteo Retegui (10'), Abdullah Al-Salem (90+1'), while Al-Khaleej's goal came from their Norwegian striker Joshua King (78'). The match also saw Al-Khaleej's coach, Greek Georgios Donis, receive a red card.
The match witnessed a strong start from both teams, as Al-Khaleej earned a corner kick that they did not benefit from. Due to a defensive lapse, Italian Matteo Retegui earned a foul on the edge of the penalty area and took the shot himself in a wonderful manner to find the net as the first goal for Al-Qadisiyah (10'). Al-Khaleej nearly equalized after a powerful shot from their player Pedro Rebocho, which deflected off defender Gaston Alvarez's foot, changing its direction to pass by the post for a corner kick.
At the start of the second half, Austrian referee Sebastian Gishamer awarded a penalty kick to Al-Khaleej, but it was canceled after reviewing the video technology. Mohammed Abu Al-Shamat responded with a powerful ground shot, but Al-Khaleej's post denied his attempt. Joshua King managed to score a goal for Al-Khaleej, but it was disallowed by the referee after reviewing the video technology, amidst protests from Al-Khaleej's coach Donis, who received a red card from the referee. Joshua King then scored the equalizer for Al-Khaleej (78'), and in stoppage time, from a cross played by Turki Al-Amar, substitute Abdullah Al-Salem leaped to head in the second goal for Al-Qadisiyah (90+1'), ending the match with Al-Qadisiyah winning two goals to one.
With this result, Al-Qadisiyah achieves their second victory, reaching seven points, and will face their host and neighbor Al-Fateh in the next round, while Al-Khaleej suffered their first loss, remaining at six points and dropping to fourth place, and will face their guest Al-Taawun in the next round.
