أعلن مهرجان الأقصر للسينما الأفريقية إهداء دورته الـ15، المقررة إقامتها في الفترة من 30 مارس إلى 6 أبريل 2026، إلى المخرج المصري الراحل داوود عبدالسيد، تقديراً لإسهاماته الفنية ومكانته البارزة في تاريخ السينما المصرية والعربية.
وقررت إدارة المهرجان استحداث جائزة جديدة باسم «جائزة سينما المؤلف»، تمنح للأفلام التي يتولى مخرجها تأليفها، وهو الأسلوب الذي تميز به داوود عبدالسيد وترك من خلاله بصمة واضحة في السينما.
ترميم الفيلم الأول
كما تتضمن الدورة مشروع ترميم فيلمه التسجيلي الأول «وصية رجل حكيم في شؤون القرية والتعليم»، بالتعاون مع المركز القومي للسينما، إلى جانب عرض مجموعة من أبرز أفلامه ضمن برنامج المهرجان.
يذكر أن مهرجان الأقصر سبق أن كرم داوود عبدالسيد في دورته الأولى عام 2012، بينما تُقام الدورة الجديدة برئاسة شرفية للفنان محمود حميدة، وبمشاركة واسعة من جهات ثقافية ورسمية داعمة للمهرجان.
The Luxor African Film Festival announced that its 15th edition, scheduled to take place from March 30 to April 6, 2026, will be dedicated to the late Egyptian director Dawood Abdel Sayed, in recognition of his artistic contributions and prominent status in the history of Egyptian and Arab cinema.
The festival management has decided to introduce a new award named "The Auteur Cinema Award," which will be given to films whose directors also wrote them, a style that distinguished Dawood Abdel Sayed and left a clear mark on cinema.
Restoration of the First Film
The edition will also include a project to restore his first documentary film "The Testament of a Wise Man on Village Affairs and Education," in collaboration with the National Center for Cinema, in addition to showcasing a selection of his most notable films as part of the festival program.
It is worth mentioning that the Luxor Festival previously honored Dawood Abdel Sayed in its first edition in 2012, while the new edition will be held under the honorary presidency of artist Mahmoud Hamida, with wide participation from cultural and official entities supporting the festival.
