يخشى مدرب القادسية الإسباني ميشيل غونزاليس من الذكريات السيئة، عندما يواجه خصمه مدرب الاتحاد الفرنسي لوران بلان في نهائي كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين، إذ سبق أن خاض غونزاليس ستّ مباريات ضد بلان، لم يحقق خلالها أي انتصار، وآخرها التعادل في الدور الثاني من دوري روشن بنتيجة (1-1)، على ملعب الأمير محمد بن فهد بالدمام.
وبدأت هذه السلسلة السلبية، بخسارة ميشيل مع أولمبياكوس اليوناني ضد بلان مدرب باريس سان جيرمان حينها، بنتيجة (1-4) في دور المجموعات لنسخة 2013 من بطولة دوري أبطال أوروبا.
وخسر مجدداً في المباراة الثانية من دور المجموعات، بنتيجة (1-2)، قبل أن يتجه ميشيل للعمل مع أولمبيك مارسيليا في فرنسا، ليسقط مرتين جديدتين أمام بلان، إذ قاد بلان فريقه الباريسي للانتصار على مارسيليا مرتين، بنتيجة (2-1) في الجولتين التاسعة والـ25 من موسم 2015-2016 بالدوري الفرنسي، وهي الهزيمة الرابعة التي يتلقاها ميشيل ضد المدرب الفرنسي.
وجاءت الهزيمة الخامسة ثم التعثر السادس على الأراضي السعودية في الدور الأول من دوري روشن بثلاثة أهداف، بينما اكتفيا بالتعادل بهدف لكل منهما في الدور الثاني من دوري روشن. لذا فإن القادسية يخشى تاريخ ميشيل السيئ أمام بلان، في الوقت الذي يسعى للمضي نحو لقب بطل كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين.
