عُقد اليوم الأربعاء الموافق 2 سبتمبر 2026م المؤتمر الدوري للقطاع الرياضي، الذي تناول تحديثات ومستجدات اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية، ومشاركة فريق السعودية في دورة الألعاب الاسيوية العشرون التي تفتتح منتصف شهر سبتمبر الجاري في ناغويا اليابانية.
وكشف عبدالعزيز بن أحمد باعشن الرئيس التنفيذي والأمين العام للجنة، عن تحديد 11 رياضة بشقيها الأولمبي والبارالمبي كرياضات منصات التتويج، وهي: ألعاب القوى، والجودو، والتايكوندو، والكاراتيه، والجوجيتسو، والسباحة، ورفع الأثقال، والرماية، والفروسية، والمبارزة، والمصارعة.
وقال باعشن، إنه تم اتخاذ هذا القرار، بعد الاطلاع على تجارب الدول الأخرى، حيث إن 75% من ميداليات الصين في الأولمبياد ناتجه عن ثماني رياضات فقط، و 74% من ميداليات المملكة المتحدة في ثماني رياضات كذلك، و80% من ميداليات هولندا في 7 رياضات، وغيرها من الدول الأخرى.
وأضاف باعشن، أنه بالتعاون مع وزارة الرياضة ووزارة التعليم، تم إقرار مبادرة (الابتعاث الرياضي)، وهي مبادرة تستهدف تقديم 50 منحة دراسية سنوياً بداية من العام الحالي، لعدد من الرياضيين المميزين وابتعاثهم لأفضل الجامعات الرياضية حول دول العالم المعتمدة ضمن مسار التميز في برنامج الابتعاث بالمملكة.
وأكد باعشن، أنه تمت الموافقة على إنشاء عدد من مراكز النخبة، في عدد من مناطق المملكة، في خطوة تعد الأولى من نوعها في تاريخ الرياضة السعودية، وأهمها، مركز النخبة للرياضات القتالية في جدة الذي اٌفتتح يوليو الماضي، ويعقبه مركز الرياض للرياضات القتالية الذي دخل مراحله الأخيرة من البناء، بالإضافة إلى افتتاح مركز شامل للنخبة في الرياض نهاية العام الحالي، ومركز شامل للنخبة في جدة والذي من المتوقع افتتاحه عام 2028م، إضافة إلى افتتاح مركزي نخبة لألعاب القوى في بيشة وجازان، ومركز شامل للنخبة في المنطقة الشرقية، مشيراً إلى أنه في الوقت الحالي، يوجد مركز لتدريب ألعاب القوى، في نادي الأنصار بالمدينة المنورة.
وعرجّ باعشن، خلال المؤتمر، على عدد من مبادرات ومشاريع وبرامج اللجنة، وأهمها، اتفاقية الدعم المالي، وأطلق قدراتك الخارقة، وحملة أحرق عليهم، والرياضات المدرسية والجامعية، وبرامج تحول الاتحادات، وتنمية المواهب، وتطوير المدربين، وغيرها.
وأعلن باعشن، عن مشاركة 144 لاعباً ولاعبة في دورة الألعاب الآسيوية ناغويا 2026م يمثلون 19 رياضة، مضيفاً أنه تم اختيار الرياضيين، وفق معايير عديدة، أهمها، التواجد ضمن أفضل 8 مراكز آسيوية في الرياضات الفردية، والتواجد ضمن أفضل 4 مراكز في الرياضات الجماعية، وأضاف: «10% من إجمالي البعثة من مواليد 1968 وحتى 1989م، و 28% من مواليد 1990 – 2000م، و 38% من 2001 – 2005م، و 24 من مواليد 2006 – 2010م، الأمر الذي يعني أن 48% من إجمالي البعثة تحت 23 عاماً».
وعلى مستوى الألعاب البارالمبية الخامسة التي تُقام خلال الفترة 18 – 24 من أكتوبر القادم، قال باعشن، إن فريق السعودية سيشارك بـ44 لاعباً ولاعبة في 8 رياضات، وهي ألعاب القوى، والبوتشيا، والدراجات، وكرة الطاولة، والسباحة، والتايكوندو، والريشة الطائرة، ورفع الأثقال.
واختتم باعشن حديثه خلال المؤتمر، بالتأكيد، أن التطلعات في المشاركتين كبيرة، وتستهدف تقوية صلة الرياضيين السعوديين من الناشئين والشباب بالدورات الآسيوية، خاصة أن معظمهم يشارك للمرة الأولى، مع زيادة الاحتكاك، واكتساب الخبرة، بما يعود عليهم بالنفع، ويحقق للرياضة السعودية رفع العلم السعودي في منصات التتويج.
Today, Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the periodic conference for the sports sector was held, which discussed updates and developments regarding the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and the participation of the Saudi team in the 20th Asian Games, which will open in mid-September in Nagoya, Japan.
Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Baashan, the CEO and Secretary-General of the Committee, revealed that 11 sports have been identified in both Olympic and Paralympic categories as medal-winning sports. These are: athletics, judo, taekwondo, karate, jiu-jitsu, swimming, weightlifting, shooting, equestrian, fencing, and wrestling.
Baashan stated that this decision was made after reviewing the experiences of other countries, noting that 75% of China's Olympic medals come from just eight sports, 74% of the United Kingdom's medals come from eight sports as well, and 80% of the Netherlands' medals come from seven sports, among others.
He added that, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Education, the initiative of "Sports Scholarships" has been approved. This initiative aims to provide 50 scholarships annually starting from this year for a number of distinguished athletes, sending them to the best sports universities around the world that are accredited within the excellence track of the scholarship program in the Kingdom.
Baashan confirmed that the establishment of several elite centers has been approved in various regions of the Kingdom, in a move that is the first of its kind in the history of Saudi sports. Among these is the Elite Center for Combat Sports in Jeddah, which was opened last July, followed by the Riyadh Combat Sports Center, which is in its final stages of construction, in addition to the opening of a comprehensive elite center in Riyadh by the end of this year, and a comprehensive elite center in Jeddah expected to open in 2028. There will also be two elite centers for athletics in Bisha and Jazan, and a comprehensive elite center in the Eastern Province. He pointed out that currently, there is a training center for athletics at Al Ansar Club in Medina.
During the conference, Baashan touched on several initiatives, projects, and programs of the committee, including the financial support agreement, unleash your superpowers, the "Burn Them" campaign, school and university sports, federation transformation programs, talent development, coach development, and others.
Baashan announced the participation of 144 male and female athletes in the Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, representing 19 sports. He added that the athletes were selected based on various criteria, the most important of which are being among the top 8 Asian rankings in individual sports and among the top 4 in team sports. He noted: "10% of the total delegation are born between 1968 and 1989, 28% are born between 1990 and 2000, 38% are born between 2001 and 2005, and 24% are born between 2006 and 2010, which means that 48% of the total delegation is under 23 years old."
Regarding the fifth Paralympic Games, which will take place from October 18 to 24, Baashan said that the Saudi team will participate with 44 male and female athletes in 8 sports, which are athletics, boccia, cycling, table tennis, swimming, taekwondo, badminton, and weightlifting.
Baashan concluded his remarks during the conference by emphasizing that the aspirations for both participations are high, aiming to strengthen the connection of Saudi athletes, both juniors and youth, with the Asian Games, especially since most of them are participating for the first time, with increased exposure and experience gained, which will benefit them and help Saudi sports raise the Saudi flag on the podiums.
