رد الرئيس التنفيذي الأمين العام للجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية عبدالعزيز باعشن على سؤال «عكاظ» حول أسباب التركيز على 11 رياضة ضمن رياضات منصات التتويج، وإمكانية انضمام رياضات أخرى إليها مستقبلاً، مؤكداً أن العمل مستمر على توسيع قاعدة رياضيي النخبة وزيادة أعداد اللاعبين واللاعبات القادرين على المنافسة في الرياضات المستهدفة، بما يعزز فرص المملكة في الوصول إلى منصات التتويج مستقبلاً.
وقال باعشن: «هدفنا زيادة عدد رياضيي النخبة، وتعزيز حضور الرياضات القادرة على الوصول إلى منصات التتويج مستقبلاً، مع ضمان استمرار البرنامج في مساره وبوتيرة عالية».
وأوضح باعشن أن التركيز في المرحلة الحالية لا يقتصر على تحقيق النتائج الآنية، بل يمتد إلى بناء مسار مستدام لتطوير الرياضيين ورفع أعداد رياضيي النخبة وتأهيلهم للمنافسة وتحقيق الإنجازات في الاستحقاقات القادمة.
The CEO and Secretary-General of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Abdulaziz Baashan, responded to a question from "Okaz" regarding the reasons for focusing on 11 sports within the podium sports and the possibility of adding other sports to this list in the future, confirming that efforts are ongoing to expand the base of elite athletes and increase the number of male and female players capable of competing in the targeted sports, thereby enhancing the Kingdom's chances of reaching the podiums in the future.
Baashan said: "Our goal is to increase the number of elite athletes and enhance the presence of sports capable of reaching the podiums in the future, while ensuring the program continues on its path and at a high pace."
Baashan clarified that the current focus is not limited to achieving immediate results but extends to building a sustainable path for developing athletes, increasing the number of elite athletes, and preparing them for competition and achieving accomplishments in upcoming events.
