أعلن رئيس الاتحاد الأفريقي لكرة القدم (كاف)، باتريس موتسيبي، اليوم (السبت)، مجموعة من القرارات المفاجئة، في إطار خطة تطوير الكرة في القارة السمراء.
«أمم أفريقيا» كل 4 سنوات
وأكد موتسيبي، عقب اجتماع اللجنة التنفيذية للاتحاد القاري في العاصمة المغربية الرباط، أن بطولة كأس الأمم الأفريقية ستقام كل أربع سنوات بدلاً من نظامها الحالي كل عامين، اعتباراً من 2028.
زيادة في الجوائز المالية
وأوضح رئيس «كاف» أنه تقرر رفع قيمة الجائزة المالية لبطل كأس الأمم الأفريقية من 7 ملايين دولار إلى 10 ملايين دولار، إضافة إلى زيادة الدعم المالي المقدم للاتحادات المحلية إلى مليون دولار لكل دولة.
استحداث بطولة جديدة
كما أعلن موتسيبي استحداث بطولة دوري الأمم الأفريقية بشكل سنوي اعتباراً من 2029، بهدف سد الفجوة بين البطولات القارية الكبرى، على غرار التجربة الأوروبية.
وتنطلق غداً (الأحد) منافسات بطولة كأس الأمم الأفريقية 2025 في المغرب، على أن تستمر المنافسات حتى 18 يناير القادم.
The President of the African Football Confederation (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, announced today (Saturday) a series of surprising decisions as part of a plan to develop football on the African continent.
Africa Cup of Nations Every 4 Years
Motsepe confirmed, following a meeting of the executive committee of the continental federation in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, that the Africa Cup of Nations will be held every four years instead of its current biennial format, starting from 2028.
Increase in Prize Money
The CAF President explained that it has been decided to raise the prize money for the Africa Cup of Nations champion from $7 million to $10 million, in addition to increasing the financial support provided to local federations to $1 million for each country.
Introduction of a New Tournament
Motsepe also announced the introduction of the Africa Nations League on an annual basis starting from 2029, aiming to bridge the gap between major continental tournaments, similar to the European experience.
The Africa Cup of Nations 2025 tournament will kick off tomorrow (Sunday) in Morocco, with competitions continuing until January 18th of the coming year.
