شهدت محافظة العُلا زيارة أمير ويلز ولي عهد المملكة المتحدة لبريطانيا العظمى وإيرلندا الشمالية الأمير ويليام، برفقة وزير الثقافة الأمير بدر بن عبدالله بن فرحان، ومحافظ الهيئة الملكية لمحافظة العُلا.

جاءت الزيارة لتعزيز الشراكة السعودية البريطانية، خصوصاً في مجالات الثقافة والفنون والاستدامة البيئية وتنمية القدرات البشرية، بما يتوافق مع مستهدفات رؤية السعودية 2030. واطّلع الأمير ويليام على مبادرات محمية شرعان الطبيعية، بما في ذلك مشاريع استعادة الموائل الطبيعية، وحماية التنوع الحيوي، وبرامج إعادة توطين المها العربي والماعز الجبلي، في إطار الجهود الرامية لاستعادة النمر العربي في بيئته الطبيعية. واستمع الأمير ويليام، لشرح حول تاريخ البلدة القديمة وطريق البخور، ودور الثقافة والفنون في تعزيز التبادل الثقافي بين البلدين. كما زار الأعمال الفنية المشاركة في مهرجان فنون العُلا 2026، والتقى الأمير ويليام، مجموعة من الشباب السعوديين المشاركين في برامج ثقافية مشتركة، تأكيداً على أهمية الاستثمار في الإنسان ودعم الجيل الجديد.
The Governorate of Al-Ula witnessed a visit from the Prince of Wales, the heir to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Prince William, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, and the Governor of the Royal Commission for Al-Ula.

The visit aimed to strengthen the Saudi-British partnership, particularly in the fields of culture, arts, environmental sustainability, and human capacity development, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. Prince William was briefed on the initiatives of the Sharaan Nature Reserve, including projects for habitat restoration, biodiversity protection, and programs for the reintroduction of the Arabian Oryx and Nubian ibex, as part of efforts to restore the Arabian leopard in its natural environment. Prince William also listened to a presentation about the history of the old town and the incense road, and the role of culture and arts in enhancing cultural exchange between the two countries. He visited the artworks participating in the Al-Ula Arts Festival 2026 and met with a group of Saudi youth involved in joint cultural programs, emphasizing the importance of investing in people and supporting the new generation.
