أنهى بايرن ميونخ الشوط الأول متقدماً بهدف نظيف سجله المهاجم الإنجليزي هاري كين في الدقيقة 22. وفي الشوط الثاني، ضاعف مايكل أوليز تقدم العملاق البافاري بتسجيله الهدف الثاني في الدقيقة 78، قبل أن يقلص جوليان براندت الفارق لصالح بوروسيا دورتموند قبل ستّ دقائق من نهاية الوقت الأصلي.

ورفع بايرن ميونخ رصيده إلى 21 نقطة ليغرد وحيداً في صدارة «البوندسليغا»، متفوقاً بخمس نقاط عن أقرب منافسيه لايبزيغ صاحب المركز الثاني.
في المقابل، تجمد رصيد بوروسيا دورتموند عند 14 نقطة في المركز الرابع، بعدما تلقى الهزيمة الأولى له في الدوري الألماني هذا الموسم.
