استقالت «قاضية الفضيحة» في المحاكمة المتعلقة بظروف وفاة أسطورة كرة القدم الأرجنتينية والعالمية دييغو مارادونا، وذلك بعدما أدت مشاركتها في فيلم وثائقي غير مصرح له بإبطال الإجراءات القانونية وتنحيتها.
وتأتي استقالة القاضية التي لقبتها وسائل الإعلام بـ«قاضية الفضيحة»، تزامناً مع تعيين ثلاثة قضاة جدد لإعادة إطلاق هذه المحاكمة التاريخية من الصفر، في موعد لم يُحدد بعد.
وفي رسالة بعثها محاميها داريو سالدانيو إلى سلطات مقاطعة بوينوس آيرس واطلعت عليها وكالة فرانس برس، أعربت القاضية جولييتا ماكينتاتش عن أسفها «للتأثير المؤسسي والاجتماعي العميق» لأخطائها في «محاكمة بالغة الحساسية».
وقالت القاضية البالغة من العمر 47 عاماً إنها «مُدركة للسياق والضرر» اللذين قد يؤثران على ثقة الجمهور في القضاء بحال استمرارها في منصبها. لذلك، تعتقد أن «أفضل مساهمة لها في استعادة هيبة المؤسسة وتصحيح الأخطاء المرتكبة» هي الاستقالة من منصبها كقاضية.
The "scandal judge" in the trial concerning the circumstances of the death of Argentine and global football legend Diego Maradona has resigned, after her participation in an unauthorized documentary led to the annulment of legal proceedings and her removal.
The resignation of the judge, whom the media dubbed the "scandal judge," comes alongside the appointment of three new judges to restart this historic trial from scratch, on a date yet to be determined.
In a message sent by her lawyer Dario Saldanio to the authorities of Buenos Aires Province, which was reviewed by Agence France-Presse, Judge Julieta Macintach expressed her regret for the "profound institutional and social impact" of her mistakes in a "highly sensitive trial."
The 47-year-old judge stated that she is "aware of the context and the damage" that could affect public trust in the judiciary if she were to remain in her position. Therefore, she believes that her "best contribution to restoring the institution's dignity and correcting the mistakes made" is to resign from her position as a judge.
