أعلن الاتحاد السويدي لكرة القدم، اليوم (الخميس)، تمديد عقد مدرب منتخب السويد الأول غراهام بوتر حتى عام 2030.
وجاء قرار التمديد قبل أيام قليلة من خوض الملحق المؤهل إلى كأس العالم 2026، حيث سيلعب المنتخب السويدي ضد أوكرانيا يوم 26 مارس الجاري، وفي حال الفوز سيواجه الفائز من بولندا وألبانيا على بطاقة التأهل إلى المونديال.
وأوضح الاتحاد السويدي عبر موقعه الإلكتروني أن غراهام بوتر سيستمر في منصبه كمدرب للمنتخب الأول حتى عام 2030.
أول تعليق من بوتر
وقال بوتر عقب تمديد عقده: «الاستمرار في هذا الدور يعني لي الكثير، أشعر بفخر كبير ومسؤولية عظيمة في آنٍ واحد».
وأضاف المدرب، الذي تولى المهمة في أكتوبر الماضي بهدف التأهل إلى كأس العالم 2026: «إنه يوم عظيم بالنسبة لي، وفرصة رائعة للقيام بشيء مهم في المستقبل، لقد كانت الأشهر الأولى كمدرب للسويد ناجحة للغاية، واستمتعت كثيراً بالعمل مع الجميع».
طموح لإعادة السويد للمنافسة
وختم حديثه قائلاً: «السويد بلد كروي عريق بتاريخه، حيث وصلت فرقه إلى البطولة ونافست فيها، وهو ما نطمح للعودة إليه».
The Swedish Football Association announced today (Thursday) the extension of the contract of the head coach of the Swedish national team, Graham Potter, until 2030.
The decision to extend comes just a few days before the playoff for the 2026 World Cup, where the Swedish team will play against Ukraine on March 26. If they win, they will face the winner of Poland and Albania for a spot in the World Cup.
The Swedish Association clarified on its website that Graham Potter will continue in his role as head coach of the national team until 2030.
First comment from Potter
Potter said after the extension of his contract: "Continuing in this role means a lot to me; I feel a great pride and a tremendous responsibility at the same time."
The coach, who took on the role last October with the goal of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, added: "It's a great day for me, and a wonderful opportunity to do something important in the future. The first months as coach of Sweden have been very successful, and I have enjoyed working with everyone immensely."
Aspirations to bring Sweden back to competition
He concluded his remarks by saying: "Sweden is a footballing nation with a rich history, where its teams have reached the tournament and competed in it, which is what we aspire to return to."
