أعلن مركز الأمن البحري في سلطنة عُمان، (الأحد)، نجاح عمليات إنقاذ 23 فرداً من طاقم سفينة تجارية تعرضت لحادثة قبالة سواحل محافظة مسندم.
وأفاد المركز بأنه تمت الاستجابة لنداء استغاثة من سفينة تجارية ترفع علم قبرص قبالة مسندم، موضحاً أن الفرق المختصة تواصل عمليات البحث عن أحد أفراد الطاقم، الذي ما زال مفقوداً، مؤكداً استمرار الجهود للوصول إليه واستكمال إجراءات الإنقاذ.
وذكرت هيئة بحرية أن السفينة التي استهدفت قبالة مسندم تعرضت لثقب واندلاع حريق في غرفة المحركات.
وأعلن مصدر أمني عُماني في وقت سابق تعرُّض مواقع في محافظة مسندم في سلطنة عُمان إلى استهداف بواسطة طائرات مسيّرة، وفقاً لوكالة أنباء عُمان دون تحديد مصدر الهجمات.
وتحظى مسندم بأهمية إستراتيجية بارزة إذ تطل على مضيق هرمز الذي يعد من أهم الممرات المائية الدولية بالنسبة لصادرات النفط والتجارة، إذ يمر عبره نحو 90% من صادرات دول الخليج من النفط إلى العالم الخارجي، كما أنه يعد البوابة الشرقية لحركة التجارة والملاحة من وإلى الدول المطلة على الخليج.
وتقع محافظة مسندم في أقصى شمال سلطنة عمان وتطل على مضيق هرمز وهو بمثابة البوابة التي تربط بين الخليج وبين البحار المفتوحة في بحر عمان والمحيط الهندي، وتضم مسندم 4 ولايات وهي ولايات خصب ودبا وبخا ومدحا، ومركز المحافظة ولاية خصب.
The Maritime Security Center in the Sultanate of Oman announced on Sunday the successful rescue operations of 23 crew members from a commercial vessel that encountered an incident off the coast of Musandam Governorate.
The center reported that it responded to a distress call from a commercial ship flying the Cypriot flag off Musandam, explaining that specialized teams are continuing search operations for one crew member who is still missing, confirming that efforts are ongoing to reach him and complete rescue procedures.
A maritime authority mentioned that the ship targeted off Musandam suffered a hole and a fire outbreak in the engine room.
An Omani security source earlier announced that sites in Musandam Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman were targeted by drones, according to Oman News Agency, without specifying the source of the attacks.
Musandam holds significant strategic importance as it overlooks the Strait of Hormuz, which is one of the most important international waterways for oil exports and trade, with about 90% of Gulf countries' oil exports passing through it to the outside world. It also serves as the eastern gateway for trade and navigation to and from the countries bordering the Gulf.
Musandam Governorate is located in the far north of the Sultanate of Oman and overlooks the Strait of Hormuz, serving as the gateway that connects the Gulf to the open seas of the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean. Musandam comprises four districts: Khasab, Dibba, Bukha, and Madha, with Khasab being the center of the governorate.
