أعلن وزير الخارجية الإيطالي أنطونيو تاجاني إطلاق تحالف أوروبي جديد مضاد للصواريخ الباليستية، في خطوة وصفها بأنها غير مسبوقة لتعزيز القدرات الدفاعية للقارة، وذلك خلال قمة تستضيفها العاصمة الفرنسية باريس بمشاركة عدد من الدول الأوروبية.
وقال تاجاني، في مقابلة مع صحيفة «كورييري ديلا سيرا» الإيطالية، إن القمة الأوروبية المقررة في باريس ستشهد الإعلان الرسمي عن التحالف، موضحًا أنه يهدف إلى إقامة تعاون صناعي وتكنولوجي يتيح بناء منظومة دفاعية قادرة على حماية أوروبا من التهديدات الصاروخية، مستفيدًا من الدروس التي كشفتها الحرب في أوكرانيا.
وأشار الوزير الإيطالي إلى أن الحرب الروسية الأوكرانية أظهرت وجود تحديات وثغرات في منظومات الدفاع الجوي والصاروخي الأوروبية، ما يستدعي تعزيز التعاون بين الدول الأوروبية لتطوير قدرات مشتركة في مجال التصدي للصواريخ الباليستية.
وفي سياق متصل، شدد تاجاني على أهمية استمرار الدعم الأوروبي لأوكرانيا، محذرًا من أي مواقف قد تُفسر على أنها انحياز إلى موسكو، وقال: «لا يمكن لإيطاليا أن يكون لديها حكومة موالية لروسيا، فمصداقيتنا الدولية على المحك».
وأضاف أن أي مواقف غامضة تجاه الحرب في أوكرانيا قد تؤدي إلى إضعاف مكانة إيطاليا لدى حلفائها، وتنعكس سلبًا على مصالحها السياسية والاقتصادية، داعيًا القوى السياسية إلى تحديد موقف واضح بين دعم أوكرانيا أو الانحياز إلى الأنظمة التي وصفها بـ«الاستبدادية».
كما دعا وزير الخارجية الإيطالي إلى تسريع انضمام دول غرب البلقان إلى الاتحاد الأوروبي، محذرًا من أن تأخر هذه العملية قد يفتح الباب أمام تنامي النفوذ الروسي والصيني في المنطقة، مشيرًا إلى دول مثل ألبانيا وصربيا والجبل الأسود والبوسنة والهرسك ومقدونيا الشمالية وكوسوفو.
وفي ملف آخر، أعرب تاجاني عن تضامنه مع رئيسة الوزراء الإيطالية جورجيا ميلوني، بعد نشر وسائل إعلام إيرانية اسمها وصورتها ضمن قائمة شخصيات قيل إنها مستهدفة بالانتقام الإيراني، مؤكدًا أن مثل هذه التهديدات «لن ترهب إيطاليا».
وتسعى الدول الأوروبية منذ اندلاع الحرب الروسية الأوكرانية في فبراير 2022 إلى تعزيز قدراتها الدفاعية، خصوصاً في مجالات الدفاع الجوي والصاروخي، بعد أن أبرزت الحرب أهمية امتلاك أنظمة متطورة للتصدي للصواريخ الباليستية والطائرات المسيّرة والهجمات بعيدة المدى.
وشهدت السنوات الأخيرة إطلاق عدد من المبادرات الأوروبية لتعزيز التعاون الدفاعي وتطوير الصناعات العسكرية المشتركة، في ظل تزايد المخاوف الأمنية الناجمة عن الحرب في أوكرانيا، وتصاعد التوتر مع روسيا، إضافة إلى التهديدات الصاروخية التي تشهدها مناطق مختلفة من العالم، وهو ما يدفع الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى تعزيز قدراته الدفاعية وتقليل اعتماده على الأنظمة العسكرية المستوردة من خارج القارة.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced the launch of a new European alliance against ballistic missiles, a step he described as unprecedented to enhance the continent's defense capabilities, during a summit hosted in the French capital Paris with the participation of several European countries.
Tajani stated in an interview with the Italian newspaper "Corriere della Sera" that the upcoming European summit in Paris will witness the official announcement of the alliance, explaining that it aims to establish industrial and technological cooperation that enables the construction of a defense system capable of protecting Europe from missile threats, benefiting from the lessons revealed by the war in Ukraine.
The Italian minister pointed out that the Russian-Ukrainian war has highlighted challenges and gaps in European air and missile defense systems, necessitating enhanced cooperation among European countries to develop joint capabilities in countering ballistic missiles.
In this context, Tajani emphasized the importance of continued European support for Ukraine, warning against any positions that could be interpreted as bias towards Moscow, stating: "Italy cannot have a government loyal to Russia; our international credibility is at stake."
He added that any ambiguous positions regarding the war in Ukraine could weaken Italy's standing with its allies and negatively impact its political and economic interests, calling on political forces to take a clear stance between supporting Ukraine or siding with what he described as "authoritarian" regimes.
The Italian Foreign Minister also called for the acceleration of the accession of Western Balkan countries to the European Union, warning that delays in this process could open the door to increased Russian and Chinese influence in the region, referring to countries such as Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and Kosovo.
In another matter, Tajani expressed his solidarity with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni after Iranian media published her name and image on a list of individuals reportedly targeted for Iranian retaliation, affirming that such threats "will not intimidate Italy."
Since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war in February 2022, European countries have been striving to enhance their defense capabilities, particularly in the fields of air and missile defense, as the war has highlighted the importance of possessing advanced systems to counter ballistic missiles, drones, and long-range attacks.
In recent years, several European initiatives have been launched to strengthen defense cooperation and develop joint military industries, amid growing security concerns stemming from the war in Ukraine, rising tensions with Russia, and missile threats witnessed in various parts of the world, which drives the European Union to enhance its defense capabilities and reduce its reliance on military systems imported from outside the continent.
