شهدت موانئ جنوة وليفورنو في إيطاليا احتجاجات واسعة، اليوم (الإثنين)، بالتزامن مع قمة عالمية في نيويورك تقودها المملكة العربية السعودية وفرنسا لحشد الدعم لحل الدولتين والاعتراف بالدولة الفلسطينية.
تعطل النقل وإغلاق المدارس
وبحسب تقارير إعلامية إيطالية أغلق عمال الموانئ الطرق المؤدية إلى ميناء جنوة في شمال إيطاليا، ضمن فعاليات احتجاجية ضد العمليات العسكرية الإسرائيلية في غزة، كما تسببت الإضرابات، التي دعت إليها نقابات عمالية عدة تضامناً مع الشعب الفلسطيني، في تعطيل خدمات النقل وإغلاق عدد من المدارس في أنحاء إيطاليا.
في جنوة، شمال غرب إيطاليا، رفع المتظاهرون الأعلام الفلسطينية خلال تجمعات الصباح الباكر حول الميناء. وفي مدينة ليفورنو الساحلية بإقليم توسكانا، منع العمال المتظاهرين من الوصول إلى أحد مداخل الميناء.

ضغط على إسرائيل
ويهدف عمال الموانئ الإيطاليون إلى منع استخدام إيطاليا نقطةَ عبورٍ لنقل الأسلحة والإمدادات إلى إسرائيل، التي تخوض حرباً ضد حركة حماس في غزة.
قال ريكي، أحد المتظاهرين في جنوة من مجموعة «تجمع عمال الموانئ المستقلين»: «الشعب الفلسطيني يواصل إعطاءنا درساً في الكرامة والمقاومة، ونحن نتعلم منهم ونحاول القيام بدورنا».
تأثر القطارات الإقليمية
ومن المقرر أن تشهد العديد من المدن الإيطالية مظاهرات لاحقاً اليوم الإثنين، كما تأثرت خدمات القطارات الإقليمية المتجهة إلى روما بالتأخير والإلغاء بسبب الإضرابات، بينما عملت خطوط المترو في روما ومعظم خطوط المترو في ميلانو، العاصمة المالية لإيطاليا، بشكل طبيعي، فيما لم تتأثر شركات الطيران بالإضرابات.

موقف الحكومة الإيطالية
يأتي ذلك بينما تدعم الحكومة الإيطالية اليمينية بقيادة رئيسة الوزراء جورجيا ميلوني إسرائيل تقليدياً ضمن أوروبا، لكن القلق تصاعد داخل الائتلاف الحاكم في الأشهر الأخيرة بسبب الحملة العسكرية الإسرائيلية المستمرة في غزة.
ومن جانبه، قلل وزير النقل ماتيو سالفيني من تأثير الاحتجاجات، مشيراً إلى نقابة يسارية متطرفة نظمتها.

Additionally, strikes called by several labor unions in solidarity with the Palestinian people disrupted transport services and led to the closure of several schools across Italy.
In Genoa, northwest Italy, protesters raised Palestinian flags during early morning gatherings around the port. In the coastal city of Livorno in the Tuscany region, workers prevented demonstrators from accessing one of the port's entrances.

The Italian dockworkers aim to prevent Italy from being used as a transit point for transporting weapons and supplies to Israel, which is waging war against Hamas in Gaza.
Ricky, one of the protesters in Genoa from the "Independent Dockworkers' Assembly," said, "The Palestinian people continue to teach us a lesson in dignity and resistance, and we are learning from them and trying to do our part."
Impact on Regional Trains
Many Italian cities are expected to witness demonstrations later today, Monday, while regional train services heading to Rome have been delayed and canceled due to the strikes. However, metro lines in Rome and most metro lines in Milan, Italy's financial capital, operated normally, and airline companies were not affected by the strikes.

Italian Government's Position
This comes as the right-wing Italian government led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni traditionally supports Israel within Europe, but concerns have escalated within the ruling coalition in recent months due to the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza.
For his part, Transport Minister Matteo Salvini downplayed the impact of the protests, pointing to a far-left union that organized them.
