في خطوة تحمل توتراً دبلوماسياً، أعلن رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، اليوم (الأحد)، عزمه خوض معركة دبلوماسية في الأمم المتحدة ضد الدعوات للاعتراف بالدولة الفلسطينية، وذلك قبيل توجهه إلى الولايات المتحدة للمشاركة في اجتماعات الجمعية العامة ولقاء الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب.
مؤتمر حل الدولتين
ويأتي هذا التصريح في ظل ترقب لمؤتمر تقوده السعودية وفرنسا، غداً (الإثنين)، لدعم حل الدولتين، إذ من المتوقع أن تعلن أكثر من 10 دول اعترافها بالدولة الفلسطينية.
رد فعل نتنياهو
وقال نتنياهو للصحفيين قبل مغادرته: «سنواجه محاولات لفرض دولة فلسطينية تهدّد وجودنا، وسنعمل على إيصال موقفنا بوضوح للمجتمع الدولي».
تنسيق أمريكي إسرائيلي
وأشار إلى أن إسرائيل ستسعى للتنسيق مع الولايات المتحدة قبل اتخاذ قرارات نهائية، لا سيما خلال لقائه المرتقب مع ترمب في البيت الأبيض يوم 29 سبتمبر.
من جهته، اعتبر رئيس حزب الديمقراطيين الإسرائيلي يائير جولان، أن الاعتراف بدولة فلسطينية «مدمر» لإسرائيل، واقترح نموذجاً يعتمد على الانفصال المدني مع احتفاظ إسرائيل بالسيطرة الأمنية لفترة طويلة، كما انتقد جولان حكومة نتنياهو، متهماً إياها بـ«إلحاق الضرر السياسي» بإسرائيل من خلال سياساتها.
وتشير التقارير إلى أن إسرائيل، بقيادة وزير الخارجية جدعون ساعر، تبذل جهوداً دبلوماسية مكثفة لمنع المزيد من الدول من الاعتراف بالدولة الفلسطينية.
وكانت بريطانيا وكندا وأستراليا أعلنت، اليوم (الأحد)، الاعتراف بالدولة الفلسطينية، وبذلك تُصبح الدول التي اعترفت رسميّاً 150 دولة.
In a move that carries diplomatic tension, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced today (Sunday) his intention to engage in a diplomatic battle at the United Nations against calls for recognizing the Palestinian state, just before heading to the United States to participate in General Assembly meetings and meet with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Two-State Solution Conference
This statement comes amid anticipation for a conference led by Saudi Arabia and France tomorrow (Monday) to support the two-state solution, where more than 10 countries are expected to announce their recognition of the Palestinian state.
Netanyahu's Reaction
Netanyahu told reporters before his departure: “We will confront attempts to impose a Palestinian state that threatens our existence, and we will work to convey our position clearly to the international community.”
U.S.-Israeli Coordination
He noted that Israel will seek to coordinate with the United States before making final decisions, particularly during his anticipated meeting with Trump at the White House on September 29.
For his part, the leader of the Israeli Democratic Party, Yair Golan, considered the recognition of a Palestinian state to be “devastating” for Israel, proposing a model based on civil separation while Israel retains security control for a long period. Golan also criticized Netanyahu's government, accusing it of causing “political harm” to Israel through its policies.
Reports indicate that Israel, led by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, is making intensive diplomatic efforts to prevent more countries from recognizing the Palestinian state.
Today (Sunday), Britain, Canada, and Australia announced their recognition of the Palestinian state, bringing the total number of countries that have officially recognized it to 150.
