بالتعاون والتنسيق مع المملكة العربية السعودية، كشف وزير الداخلية اللبناني أحمد الحجار اليوم (الثلاثاء)، عن ضبط أكبر كمية كوكايين (١٢٥ كجم) هُرِّبَت إلى لبنان عبر سفينة من البرازيل إلى ميناء طرابلس.
وأوضح الحجار وفي مؤتمر صحفي، أن الشحنة كانت مخبأة بشكل محكم داخل جالونات تحتوي زيوتاّ وشحوماً صناعية، مشيراً إلى أن العملية تمت بعد رصد دقيق وتعاون أمني محلي وسعودي، وأسفرت عن توقيف شخصين حتى الآن، فيما تستمر ملاحقة متورطين آخرين.
وأضاف الحجار: «نحن نعمل بكل طاقاتنا وأقصى قدراتنا، ونطمئن دول الجوار، وخصوصاً الدول الشقيقة، بأننا لن نسمح أن يكون لبنان ممراً أو منصة لتهريب الممنوعات، سواء كانت موجهة إلى الداخل اللبناني أو إلى الخارج».
ووجه وزير الداخلية اللبناني الشكر إلى السلطات السعودية على «الجهود والتنسيق المشترك»، مؤكداً أن التحقيقات مستمرة لكشف كافة خيوط الشبكة المتورطة في هذه العملية.
In collaboration and coordination with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar revealed today (Tuesday) the seizure of the largest quantity of cocaine (125 kg) that was smuggled into Lebanon via a ship from Brazil to the port of Tripoli.
Al-Hajjar explained in a press conference that the shipment was meticulously hidden inside containers containing oils and industrial fats, noting that the operation took place after careful monitoring and local and Saudi security cooperation, resulting in the arrest of two individuals so far, while the pursuit of other suspects continues.
Al-Hajjar added: "We are working with all our energies and utmost capabilities, and we assure neighboring countries, especially brotherly nations, that we will not allow Lebanon to be a transit point or platform for smuggling prohibited substances, whether directed to the Lebanese interior or abroad."
The Lebanese Interior Minister thanked the Saudi authorities for their "efforts and joint coordination," affirming that investigations are ongoing to uncover all the connections of the network involved in this operation.
