السيسي وماكرون يناقشان جهود الوساطة لوقف إطلاق النار في غزة

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed today (Saturday) with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, during a phone call, Cairo's intensive efforts for mediation to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and the necessity of reaching a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.

The Egyptian presidency stated in a statement that the call addressed Egypt's intensive efforts for mediation to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and prisoner exchanges, and emphasized the need to deliver humanitarian aid adequately and appropriately to the people of the Gaza Strip.

The French president affirmed his country's full support for the Egyptian efforts, while both sides stressed the necessity of reaching a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

El-Sisi welcomed what Macron recently announced regarding France's intention to recognize the Palestinian state during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in September, affirming that this decision comes within the framework of ongoing French efforts to implement the two-state solution, as the only way to achieve the aspirations of both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples to live in peace side by side, and to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.

The call also addressed Egypt's support for the joint French-Saudi initiative aimed at organizing a high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue, scheduled to be held in New York during this July.
