The Syrian Minister of Information, Hamza Mustafa, confirmed today (Wednesday) that the Israeli aggression on Damascus is not a victory but rather an escape from the internal pressures faced by the government of the Israeli occupation entity.
Mustafa stated in an interview with the Syrian News Channel: The Syrian government has shown great flexibility in finding political solutions, but the result has been more provocations, breaking promises, and creating a military reality that opposes the state, which has tried to distance itself from military solutions. He pointed out that the state has the right to control its territories, explaining that the people of Sweida are a fundamental pillar in the Syrian state, which accommodates all its components, and they are part of the homeland.
He noted that the Syrian state was not in a position of weakness to resolve the Sweida issue, which could have been possible in the past months, but it requested the parties to agree on a common formula. However, some relied on external factors, indicating that there is a conviction among the people of Sweida that the agreement with the Syrian government is to reposition the governorate within the Syrian homeland. For his part, the Syrian Minister of Health, Dr. Musab Ali, confirmed that the ministry responded from the first day of the events in the Sweida governorate by establishing an emergency room that includes the health directorates of Sweida, Daraa, Damascus, and its countryside, explaining that the emergency rooms were expanded to include the health directorates in the governorates of Homs and Hama, attracting medical staff and securing medical devices and supplies to increase the capacity in intensive care units, and transferring some cases requiring surgical operations to hospitals in Damascus and its countryside.
Ali pointed out the coordination with the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management regarding the ambulance system to be in a state of maximum readiness, in addition to the readiness of the blood bank and the supply directorate to secure medical supplies and necessary medications for treatment, confirming the mobilization of all medical staff and health facilities to provide medical services to everyone according to the available capacities and resources.
The Minister of Health noted that a field visit was conducted to one of the hospitals in the Damascus governorate to check on the health status of the injured, and there will be visits to other hospitals to review the reality of the services being provided, emphasizing that health service is a fundamental right for every citizen, and the mission of the Ministry of Health is to provide this right with utmost integrity and professionalism.
On another note, Israeli occupation warplanes launched two airstrikes on the east of the town of Ghabaghib in the northern countryside of Daraa, according to the Syrian news agency "SANA," while the Ministry of Health confirmed that the toll of the Israeli occupation's aggression on the capital, Damascus, has risen to 3 dead and 34 injured.
The Syrian Civil Aviation Authority announced today the temporary closure of the southern corridor in Syrian airspace for aircraft movement, effective from 16:30 to 18:30 Damascus time, indicating that the closure includes the southern air corridor L513 (Basra - Damascus), and this measure comes in order to ensure the highest standards of air safety.
