Palestinian sources announced the death and injury of 17 Israeli soldiers in an operation carried out by Palestinian factions. Israeli media reported that five soldiers were killed and two others were critically injured during clashes that occurred around the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip.

However, Israeli sources spoke of the death of 4 Israeli soldiers in the collapse of a booby-trapped building in Khan Younis. The sources confirmed today (Friday) that 11 soldiers were injured, including one in critical condition, and reported that there was an attempt to kidnap one of the injured soldiers, but it failed.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces advanced in areas south of Khan Younis city, amid heavy gunfire from tanks. The sources added that the Israeli forces advanced under the cover of fire from aircraft that bombed anyone attempting to move in the areas of incursion.

According to eyewitnesses, these movements coincide with a parallel movement of Israeli tanks in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City amid artillery shelling.

The humanitarian crisis has worsened in the devastated and besieged Palestinian territory with the scarcity of aid entering, while Israel has vowed to continue expanding its military operations.

Since March 18, a fragile truce has collapsed after lasting about two months between Israel and Hamas, and Israeli occupation forces have intensified their operations in the Gaza Strip since May 17, asserting their determination to free what remains of Israeli hostages held, take control of all of Gaza, and eliminate Hamas.
