Residents of the centers and villages located east of Al-Hanakiyah Governorate, which include Al-Hameej, Al-Hasu, Balagh, Hadban, Talal, and Al-Muhama, have complained about the water contractor that the Water Services Branch of the governorate contracted to supply water to the villages. They expressed their concern over the contractor's interruption for several months, which has created a crisis and a black market for water tankers operated by foreign labor at exorbitant prices.
Water Scarcity
Citizen Abdulrahman Nasser Al-Jaafari from Hadban Center stated that the main issue residents face is water scarcity due to the lack of abundant water resources in nearby locations, as the contractor assigned by the Al-Hanakiyah branch only brings one tanker at a time and then stops for months. As a result, residents have become victims of the black market through foreign labor that brings water of unknown origin at high costs. Meanwhile, Mohammed Al-Mutairi called on the National Water Company to intervene quickly and resolve the issue by connecting the villages to a water network. Mandooh Naif Bin Rajeh mentioned that Balagh Center is one of the centers suffering from scarcity in the absence of the contractor, whose presence has become as good as nonexistent, and many residents cannot afford the cost of the tankers that bring water from distant wells.
Due to the Contractor
For their part, Muqrin Al-Jubail and Mohammed Al-Mutairi from Talal Center stated that the centers affiliated with Al-Hanakiyah Governorate are suffering from water scarcity due to the contractor who comes for a day and then disappears for months. They added that some eastern Al-Hanakiyah centers are considered close to the Riyadh and Qassim regions, and the centers and villages connected to those regions have been linked to a water network through their areas. However, the centers of Al-Hanakiyah are still served by a contractor's tankers that do not adequately serve the villages.
