صفقة غزة تقترب.. ومطامع نتنياهو لا تنتهي
Expectations are rising with every passing minute for an agreement between Israel and Hamas that would halt the war in the Gaza Strip and return the Israeli hostages held in the area. It is clear that U.S. President Donald Trump is exerting intense pressure on both sides of the conflict to put an end to a crisis that has increased the suffering of Palestinians to unprecedented levels since the Nakba of 1948, and has placed the region in a state of heightened tension, threatening navigation in the Red Sea, the Strait of Hormuz, and the outbreak of war between Israel and Iran. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been making tremendous efforts through communications with its Arab and Western partners, particularly the United States, to achieve the desired ceasefire, in hopes that it will lead to lasting peace. News of a potential halt to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip comes with tomorrow's (Monday) meeting between President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, where it is reported that he will seek a green light allowing Israel to resume attacks on Iran, following all the damage and losses caused by the Israeli assault during what is known as the 12-day war. It is essential that President Trump and senior officials in his administration inform Netanyahu that Trump does not want wars, but rather peace that fosters thriving relationships between peoples and increases trade volumes among them, without security tensions affecting the global economy. This comes as Trump is making significant efforts to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine. There is no doubt that Netanyahu is the cause of the region's problems and tensions. Not because he is responding to threats to Israel's security; but because he wants to expand the Israeli occupation of Arab lands in Lebanon and Syria, swallow the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and gain the right to strike Iran, as well as any force in the Middle East he finds vulnerable enough to devour. Arabs are looking forward to the deal between Israel and Hamas, which Trump is sponsoring through his envoy, Steve Witkoff. However, Netanyahu's plans, stemming from his crisis before Israeli courts and his dependence on extremist Jewish parties, could plunge the region and the world back into endless wars.
