The Minister of State for Women's Affairs in the Yemeni government, Dr. Ahd Jassous, confirmed that the "Yemen Dawn" operation represents an important milestone in the path to restoring the Yemeni state and ending the Houthi coup, and is an opportunity to enhance national efforts aimed at restoring state institutions, consolidating the republican system, and ending the threats to Yemen's security and stability.
In a special interview with "Okaz," she stated that the aspirations of Yemenis do not stop at achieving military gains, but extend to building a safe and stable state that monopolizes weapons, protects its citizens, preserves its sovereignty, and guarantees its children the right to a decent life. She added that we look forward to these operations contributing to ending the threat posed by the Houthi militias, putting an end to the suffering of Yemenis due to war and the coup, and preparing the conditions for restoring state institutions and rebuilding what has been destroyed by years of conflict.
She pointed out that Yemen needs a new phase in which it regains its national decision, preserves the dignity of its citizens, and opens up avenues for peace and development for its children, away from projects of domination, exclusion, and imposing will by force of arms. She considered that the Yemeni armed forces represent a fundamental pillar in the battle to restore the state and protect the homeland, noting that the sacrifices made by its members in the fields of confrontation embody the Yemenis' adherence to their republic and their right to restore their state. She indicated that supporting the armed forces, enhancing their readiness and capabilities, and unifying military decisions under the umbrella of the state are essential requirements for achieving sustainable peace that preserves Yemen's sovereignty and unity and restores the dignity of national institutions.
Taiz.. and the Future of Yemen
The Minister of State said: We cannot talk about the future of Yemen and the restoration of the state without stopping at Taiz, a city that has embodied the meaning of national pride over years of confrontation, and its people have proven that the will of the people cannot be broken by siege, and that the commitment to freedom and the republic is stronger than attempts at subjugation and oppression. She noted that Taiz stood firm against the Houthi militias with a strong will, and its people have borne heavy burdens in defense of their city and their right to life and dignity, remaining steadfast in their national identity despite harsh conditions and accumulated challenges.
The Responsibility to Support Taiz
Minister Ahd Jassous said: Taiz is a city that defends the idea of the state and the republic, and the right of all Yemenis to live in a homeland governed by institutions and laws, not by militias and weapons. Therefore, its steadfastness carries national significance that transcends the boundaries of the governorate, making its support a shared responsibility that falls on the state, political forces, and the Yemeni society in all its components.
She added that the pride of Taiz deserves support, and the steadfastness of its people deserves to be met with practical positions that match the size of their sacrifices, rather than just words of praise and solidarity. It is important that the efforts of the government, local authorities, political parties, businesspeople, and humanitarian and charitable institutions come together to alleviate the living burdens on citizens, improve basic services, provide health and educational needs, and support affected and low-income families; for Taiz, which has given so much in the battle to defend the republic, deserves to find everyone by its side in the battle for life and the provision of resilience essentials.
She emphasized that the steadfastness of the people of Taiz should not be understood as a self-sufficiency from support or an ability to bear burdens indefinitely; for pride does not negate needs, and dignity does not mean leaving people to face harsh conditions alone. Supporting Taiz is not a fleeting act of charity, but a national duty towards a city that has paid heavy prices for its adherence to the state and the republic, and towards citizens who deserve a safe life, basic services, and fair opportunities.
Support and Protection Programs
She stated that, due to our responsibility in the women's affairs sector, we pay special attention to the conditions of women and girls in light of the war and the deterioration of living conditions, as Yemeni women bear multiplied burdens in supporting their families, caring for their children, and facing shortages of services and economic opportunities. These responsibilities increase in areas affected by war and siege, which necessitates directing support and protection programs towards the most needy families, providing health and educational care, and enhancing women's opportunities in work, production, and participation in recovery and reconstruction.
Women and Peacebuilding
She clarified that Yemeni women are a key partner in protecting society, rebuilding the state, and making peace. She said: The more opportunities for women's participation in public and economic life expand, the greater the community's ability to overcome the effects of war and regain its vitality. From this standpoint, supporting women and girls in Taiz and other affected governorates represents an investment in the future and stability of Yemen.
Yemeni-Saudi Relations
The minister reviewed the nature of Yemeni-Saudi relations and their importance, considering them a crucial pillar in supporting stability and development. She said: We view the continuation of cooperation between the two countries as an important element in assisting Yemenis to overcome the conditions of war and restore their state institutions. The security and stability of Yemen is a shared interest, and its future requires the concerted efforts of national and regional efforts to support the restoration of the state, preserve the country's sovereignty, and open the way for peace, development, and reconstruction. The Yemen we aspire to is a Yemen of state, law, and equal citizenship, a Yemen not controlled by militias, where the will of citizens is not confiscated, and where individuals are not left alone in the face of poverty, war, and need, a Yemen that has a national army to protect it, effective institutions that serve its people, an economy that provides job opportunities for youth, and a society where opportunities are equal and the rights of women, children, and all citizens are preserved.
A Unified National Will
She emphasized the necessity of restoring the state and what it requires of a unified national will, integration between military, political, and humanitarian efforts, and prioritizing the national interest over narrow disputes and calculations. It also requires that the sacrifices of the armed forces and the steadfastness of the people of Taiz and other governorates serve as a motivation to double efforts for a future worthy of Yemenis.
She concluded her remarks by affirming that Taiz will remain, with what it represents of pride and national will, a symbol of resilience and adherence to the republic, and its support will remain a duty that cannot be neglected. It is our collective responsibility to translate our pride in its steadfastness into real support, to stand by its people in facing challenges, and to work for a Yemen that restores its state and national decision, where its children enjoy security, peace, dignity, and development.
