يستعد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب لإطلاق مشروع مخزون إستراتيجي من المعادن الحيوية بقيمة أولية تبلغ 12 مليار دولار، في خطوة تستهدف حماية الشركات الأمريكية من صدمات سلاسل الإمداد وتقليص الاعتماد على الصين.
وكشف مسؤولون كبار في الإدارة الأمريكية لوكالة «بلومبيرغ»، أن تمويل المشروع يأتي عبر 1.67 مليار دولار من رأس المال الخاص، إضافة إلى قرض بقيمة 10 مليارات دولار من بنك التصدير والاستيراد الأمريكي.
شركات مشاركة
وأضاف المسؤولون أن المشروع سيضم معادن حيوية بجانب العناصر الأرضية النادرة، مثل الغاليوم والكوبالت، التي تستخدم في تصنيع منتجات مثل «آيفون» والبطاريات ومحركات الطائرات النفاثة.
ويشارك في المشروع حتى الآن أكثر من 12 شركة، ومن المقرر أن يصوّت مجلس إدارة بنك التصدير والاستيراد، في وقت لاحق اليوم، على قرض مدته 15 عاماً.
U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing to launch a strategic stockpile project of critical minerals with an initial value of $12 billion, in a move aimed at protecting American companies from supply chain shocks and reducing dependence on China.
Senior officials in the U.S. administration revealed to Bloomberg that the funding for the project comes from $1.67 billion in private capital, in addition to a $10 billion loan from the Export-Import Bank of the United States.
Participating Companies
The officials added that the project will include critical minerals alongside rare earth elements, such as gallium and cobalt, which are used in manufacturing products like the iPhone, batteries, and jet engines.
More than 12 companies are currently participating in the project, and the board of the Export-Import Bank is scheduled to vote later today on a 15-year loan.
