علقت لجنة مهرجانات بيت الدين، اليوم (الإثنين)، إقامة دورة العام الحالي بسبب الظروف السياسية والأمنية التي تعيق مشاركة الفنانين الأجانب فيه.
وأوضحت اللجنة في بيان أصدرته بأنه في ضوء الظروف السياسية والأمنية الحالية التي تؤثر على المنطقة وتُعيق مشاركة الفنانين الأجانب، وحرصاً على ضمان إقامة المهرجان وأنشطته في أجواء من الاستقرار والهدوء، اتخذت لجنة مهرجانات بيت الدين القرار الصعب بتعليق المهرجان، مشيرة إلى العودة لإطلاع الرأي العام على موقفها في حال تبدلت الأوضاع وتحديد الموعد الجديد إذا سمحت الظروف بذلك.
وأعلنت رئيسة اللجنة نورا جنبلاط سابقاً برنامجا «غنياً ومتنوعاً» لدورة المهرجانات الصيفية بعدما غابت قسرياً العام الماضي.
وكان من بين المشاركين الميتزو سوبرانو الأمريكية دجي ناي بريدجيز، وثلاث فنانات من لبنان ومصر وسورية هنّ جاهدة وهبه وريهام عبد الحكيم ولبانة القنطار، وعازف العود العراقي نصير شمّه، والممثلة والمغنية كارول سماحة في مسرحية «كلو مسموح».
وأشار المنظمون في البيان إلى أن معرضين فنيين كان يُفترض أن يقاما خلال المهرجانات.
The Beiteddine Festivals Committee announced today (Monday) the suspension of this year's edition due to the political and security conditions that hinder the participation of foreign artists.
The committee clarified in a statement that, in light of the current political and security circumstances affecting the region and obstructing the participation of foreign artists, and in order to ensure the festival and its activities take place in an atmosphere of stability and calm, the Beiteddine Festivals Committee made the difficult decision to suspend the festival, noting that it will return to inform the public of its position should the situation change and to set a new date if conditions allow.
The committee chair, Nora Jumblatt, had previously announced a "rich and diverse" program for the summer festival after it was forcibly canceled last year.
Among the participants were American mezzo-soprano Gi Naye Bridges, and three artists from Lebanon, Egypt, and Syria: Jahida Wehbe, Riham Abdel Hakim, and Lubana Quntar, as well as Iraqi oud player Naseer Shamma, and actress and singer Carole Samaha in the play "Kolo Masmouh".
The organizers indicated in the statement that two art exhibitions were supposed to take place during the festivals.
