أقر الطبيب سلفادور بلاسينسيا بمسؤوليته عن تزويد الممثل الأمريكي الراحل ماثيو بيري أحد أبطال مسلسل «فريندز» بمادة الكيتامين المخدرة.
ووفقاً لصحيفة ميرور البريطانية يواجه الطبيب بلاسينسيا حُكمًا بالسجن قد يصل إلى 40 عامًا؛ بسبب توزيعه غير القانوني للدواء المهدئ وتزوير مستندات متعلقة بالقضية.
وتوفي بيري عن عمر يناهز 54 عامًا في أكتوبر 2023، إذ عُثر عليه داخل حوض استحمام بمنزله في لوس أنجلوس، وأكدت التحقيقات أن السبب كان نتيجة تأثير قوي لمادة الكيتامين أدّى إلى فقدانه الوعي وغرقه.
بلاسينسيا يُعد واحدًا من بين خمسة متهمين في القضية، جميعهم واجهوا تهمًا تتعلق بإمداد بيري بالكيتامين رغم علمهم بتاريخه الطويل مع الإدمان. وقد اعترف آخرون بدورهم، من بينهم الطبيب مارك تشافيز، والمساعد الشخصي للراحل كينيث إيواماسا، إضافة إلى إريك فليمنغ، الذي وُصف بأنه تاجر مخدرات.
وفي المقابل، أنكرت جاسفين سانغا، الملقبة إعلاميًا بـ«ملكة الكيتامين» في هوليوود، التهم المنسوبة إليها، في وقت لا تزال التحقيقات مستمرة في تفاصيل علاقتها بالقضية.
وكان ماثيو بيري قد تحدث مرارًا عن معاناته مع الإدمان، مشيرًا إلى أن تلك الصراعات بدأت منذ أيام عمله في مسلسل «فريندز» الشهير، إذ ظل لسنوات تحت تأثير أدوية وعقاقير أدّت إلى تدهور حالته الصحية والنفسية.
Doctor Salvador Blasencia admitted his responsibility for providing the late American actor Matthew Perry, one of the stars of the series "Friends," with the narcotic substance ketamine.
According to the British newspaper Mirror, Dr. Blasencia faces a prison sentence of up to 40 years for the illegal distribution of the sedative and for forging documents related to the case.
Perry passed away at the age of 54 in October 2023, as he was found in a bathtub at his home in Los Angeles. Investigations confirmed that the cause was the strong effects of ketamine, which led to his loss of consciousness and drowning.
Blasencia is one of five defendants in the case, all of whom faced charges related to supplying Perry with ketamine despite knowing his long history with addiction. Others have also confessed to their roles, including Dr. Mark Chavez, the late actor's personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, and Eric Fleming, who was described as a drug dealer.
In contrast, Jasfin Sanga, known in the media as the "Queen of Ketamine" in Hollywood, denied the charges against her, while investigations into the details of her relationship with the case are still ongoing.
Matthew Perry had repeatedly spoken about his struggles with addiction, noting that these battles began during his time working on the famous series "Friends," as he remained under the influence of medications and drugs for years, which led to a deterioration in his health and mental state.
