لم تتوقع قوة أمنية في ولاية أوكلاهوما الأمريكية أن تتحول مهمة إخلاء عقاري روتينية إلى مواجهة بالنيران واللهب، إذ تفاجأ الضباط فور كسر باب إحدى الشقق برجل ستيني يقف في المنتصف ممسكاً بابتكار غريب اندلع منه جحيم لهب بطول أربعة أمتار ونصف.
كان المتهم دارون دن (61 عاماً) قد أعد العدة للشرطة قبل اقتحام المكان بلحظات، حيث شبك بضع عبوات بخاخ تحتوي على غاز البيوتان ومواد تنظيف سريعة الاشتعال بأسلاك مكشوفة و«ولاعة» يدوية. وما إن دخل عناصر الأمن، حتى رش المزيج وأشعله دفعة واحدة، مجبراً القوة الأمنية على التراجع سريعاً نحو الممر الخارجي دون أن يُصاب أحد من الضباط.
لم تتوقف الواقعة عند هذا الحد، بل اكتشفت الشرطة داخل الشقة جسماً مشبوهاً موصولاً ببطارية سيارة، ما استدعى إخلاء البناية بالكامل واستدعاء خبراء المتفجرات للتعامل مع الموقف. وانتهت العملية بنقل الرجل الستيني إلى المستشفى لتقييم حالته النفسية، تمهيداً لمحاكمته بتهم الاعتداء بسلاح قاتل وتصنيع مواد حارقة وعرقلة العدالة.
A security force in the state of Oklahoma, USA, did not expect a routine eviction mission to turn into a confrontation with fire and flames, as the officers were surprised upon breaking the door of one of the apartments to find a sixty-year-old man standing in the middle holding a strange device from which a four-and-a-half-meter tall inferno erupted.
The accused, Darun Dunn (61 years old), had prepared for the police just moments before they stormed the place, as he had connected several spray cans containing butane gas and highly flammable cleaning materials with exposed wires and a manual lighter. As soon as the security personnel entered, he sprayed the mixture and ignited it all at once, forcing the security force to quickly retreat toward the outer corridor without any of the officers being injured.
The incident did not stop there; the police discovered inside the apartment a suspicious device connected to a car battery, which necessitated the complete evacuation of the building and the calling in of bomb disposal experts to handle the situation. The operation ended with the sixty-year-old man being taken to the hospital for a psychological evaluation, in preparation for his trial on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, manufacturing incendiary materials, and obstructing justice.
