شهدت حديقة الحيوان في العاصمة صنعاء، السبت، حادثة مروعة بعدما هاجم أسد طفلًا صغيرًا والتهم يده وساعده، في واقعة جديدة تُضاف إلى سلسلة حوادث مشابهة أثارت غضبًا واسعًا خلال العام الماضي.
ووفق مصادر محلية، كان الطفل يقف قرب قفص الأسود قبل أن يُدخل يده عبر السياج المعدني في منطقة تفتقر إلى الحواجز الوقائية، ما أتاح للحيوان الانقضاض عليه وإصابته إصابة بالغة انتهت ببتر كامل ليده وساعده.
وتداول ناشطون مقطعًا مرئيًا يوثق لحظات الهلع التي عمّت المكان، ويظهر فيه الطفل وهو يصرخ في حالة صدمة: «أين يدي؟ أين يدي؟»، بينما يحاول الزوار إبعاده عن القفص وسط فوضى وارتباك شديدين.
وتعيد الحادثة إلى الواجهة سجلًا ثقيلًا من الاعتداءات داخل الحديقة؛ إذ سبق أن تعرض طفل في يونيو الماضي لعضة لبوة أدت إلى بتر يده، كما أصيبت طفلة أخرى في حادثة مشابهة انتهت ببتر يدها أيضًا، ما أثار تساؤلات حول غياب إجراءات السلامة واستمرار السماح للزوار بالاقتراب من الحيوانات المفترسة دون وجود حواجز كافية.
وتصاعدت المطالبات بفتح تحقيق عاجل ومحاسبة إدارة الحديقة، وتشديد التدابير الوقائية لمنع تكرار هذه الحوادث، وسط مخاوف من تحول المكان إلى مصدر خطر على الأطفال بدلًا من كونه متنفسًا آمنًا للعائلات.
The zoo in the capital, Sana'a, witnessed a horrifying incident on Saturday when a lion attacked a small child, biting off his hand and forearm, in a new case added to a series of similar incidents that sparked widespread outrage over the past year.
According to local sources, the child was standing near the lion's cage before he reached his hand through the metal fence in an area lacking safety barriers, allowing the animal to pounce on him and inflict severe injuries that resulted in the complete amputation of his hand and forearm.
Activists circulated a video documenting the moments of panic that engulfed the place, showing the child screaming in shock: "Where is my hand? Where is my hand?" while visitors tried to pull him away from the cage amidst great chaos and confusion.
This incident brings to the forefront a heavy record of attacks within the zoo; a child was previously bitten by a lioness last June, resulting in the amputation of his hand, and another girl was injured in a similar incident that also ended with the amputation of her hand, raising questions about the lack of safety measures and the continued allowance for visitors to approach wild animals without adequate barriers.
Demands have escalated for an urgent investigation and accountability for the zoo's management, as well as tightening preventive measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, amid fears of the place becoming a source of danger for children instead of being a safe outlet for families.
