تحولت رحلة كان يفترض أن تنتهي بعودة آمنة إلى مأساة دامية، بعدما هوت حافلة تقل عشرات الأشخاص من منحدر صخري في جزيرة فوغو بالرأس الأخضر، ما أسفر عن مقتل 25 شخصًا، غالبيتهم من الأطفال والمراهقين.
وأعلن مسؤول محلي، الأحد، أن الحادثة وقعت السبت، فيما أصيب 8 أشخاص آخرين، بعضهم في حالة حرجة، وفقًا لما أفاد به ممثل إدارة الحماية المدنية في بلدية ساو فيليبي خوسيه كانوتو في بيان صحفي نقلته وكالة فرانس برس.
وكانت الحافلة تقل 32 شخصًا أثناء عودتهم إلى مدينة ساو فيليبي عقب جولة عندما انحرفت عن الطريق وسقطت من جرف صخري يبلغ ارتفاعه نحو 30 مترًا، قبل أن تستقر في وادٍ صخري يصعب الوصول إليه، بحسب السلطات المحلية.
وأثارت الحادثة حالة من الحزن في المنطقة، خصوصًا مع ارتفاع عدد الضحايا بين الأطفال والمراهقين، فيما أشارت الإذاعة الرسمية في الرأس الأخضر «Radio de Cabo Verde» إلى أن مراسم دفن جميع الضحايا ستقام اليوم.

The journey that was supposed to end with a safe return turned into a bloody tragedy, after a bus carrying dozens of people plunged off a rocky cliff on the island of Fogo in Cape Verde, resulting in the deaths of 25 people, most of whom were children and teenagers.
A local official announced on Sunday that the incident occurred on Saturday, while 8 other people were injured, some of them in critical condition, according to a statement from José Canuto, a representative of the civil protection department in the municipality of São Filipe, reported by Agence France-Presse.
The bus was carrying 32 people on their way back to the city of São Filipe after a tour when it veered off the road and fell from a cliff approximately 30 meters high, before coming to rest in a rocky valley that is difficult to access, according to local authorities.
The incident has sparked a wave of sorrow in the region, especially with the rising number of victims among children and teenagers, while the official radio in Cape Verde, "Radio de Cabo Verde," indicated that the burial ceremonies for all the victims will take place today.
Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident to determine the reasons behind the bus veering off the road and falling in the rugged area.
