نجحت فرق طبية روسية في إجراء أول عملية جراحية من نوعها في العالم بقاعدة الجمجمة لمريض يبلغ من العمر 101 عام، في مستشفى تابع لجامعة سامارا الطبية الحكومية.
وأفادت رئيسة قسم الأنف والأذن والحنجرة في المستشفى أوليسيا نابريجنيفا -في بيان- أن العملية أُجريت للمريض بسبب معاناته من التهاب الجيوب الوتدية، مشيرةً إلى أنه بقي تحت المراقبة الطبية في المستشفى لمدة أسبوع، قبل السماح له بالمغادرة بعد تحسن حالته الصحية.
وأوضحت أن قرار إجراء الجراحة جاء نظراً إلى خطورة الحالة الصحية للمريض، مبينةً أن المستشفى يجري مثل هذه العمليات، إلا أنها المرة الأولى التي تُجرى فيها لمريض بهذا العمر.
وأظهرت هذه الحالة إمكانية إعادة النظر في القيود العمرية المرتبطة ببعض التدخلات الجراحية، في ظل توافر التقنيات الحديثة ووجود مؤشرات طبية واضحة تدعم فرص نجاح العملية.
Russian medical teams have successfully performed the world's first surgery of its kind on the skull base of a 101-year-old patient at a hospital affiliated with Samara State Medical University.
The head of the ENT department at the hospital, Olesya Nabrygnyeva, stated in a statement that the surgery was performed on the patient due to his suffering from sphenoid sinusitis, noting that he remained under medical supervision in the hospital for a week before being allowed to leave after his health improved.
She explained that the decision to perform the surgery was made due to the seriousness of the patient's health condition, indicating that the hospital conducts such surgeries, but this is the first time it has been performed on a patient of this age.
This case demonstrated the possibility of reconsidering age-related restrictions associated with certain surgical interventions, given the availability of modern techniques and the presence of clear medical indications supporting the chances of a successful operation.
