جدد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، اليوم (الاثنين)، تأكيده على أن الولايات المتحدة تسيطر على مضيق هرمز، وأنها أزالت منه الألغام الإيرانية.
وقال ترمب للصحفيين في المكتب البيضاوي: «الجهة الوحيدة المسيطرة حالياً على مضيق هرمز هي بحرية الولايات المتحدة، وأزلنا الألغام من المضيق بأكمله»، مضيفاً: «ما زلنا نمتلك القدرة على التصعيد».
وكان ترمب قد توعد إيران بدفع تعويضات للدول التي تضررت من هجماتها وحروبها طوال السنوات الماضية، منها اليمن وسورية وغزة ولبنان، مؤكداً أنه وجه ممثلي الولايات المتحدة بطرح هذه المسألة بقوة في أي مفاوضات مستقبلية، وكل المفاوضات القادمة.
في المقابل، قال وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي إن طهران مصممة على مواصلة المشاورات مع سلطنة عُمان بشأن مضيق هرمز.
ونقلت وكالة «تسنيم» عن وزارة الخارجية الإيرانية أن عراقجي بحث هاتفياً مع وزير الخارجية الباكستاني محمد إسحاق دار العلاقات الثنائية والتطورات الإقليمية، مستعرضَين آخر مستجدات المحادثات الثنائية بين إيران وسلطنة عُمان بشأن تحديد مسار مناسب لعبور السفن بأمان من مضيق هرمز. وأكدت وزارة الخارجية الإيرانية عزم طهران على مواصلة هذا المسار.
U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed today (Monday) that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz and has removed Iranian mines from it.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office: "The only entity currently controlling the Strait of Hormuz is the U.S. Navy, and we have removed the mines from the entire strait," adding: "We still have the capability to escalate."
Trump had previously warned Iran of compensating countries that have been harmed by its attacks and wars over the past years, including Yemen, Syria, Gaza, and Lebanon, emphasizing that he instructed U.S. representatives to strongly raise this issue in any future negotiations and all upcoming negotiations.
In contrast, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran is determined to continue consultations with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
The Tasnim news agency reported that Araghchi discussed by phone with Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar the bilateral relations and regional developments, reviewing the latest updates on the bilateral talks between Iran and Oman regarding establishing a suitable route for the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed Tehran's commitment to continue this path.
