في لحظة إنسانية مؤثرة، وجه قائد سفينة الرحلات الاستكشافية «إم.في هونديوس» القبطان يان دوبروغوفسكي رسالة مصورة صادقة إلى الركاب وأفراد الطاقم، بعد ساعات قليلة من انتهاء عملية إجلاء معظم الركاب بنجاح من السفينة التي شهدت تفشي فايروس هانتا.
وقال القبطان في الرسالة التي نشرتها شركة Oceanwide Expeditions: «الأسابيع الماضية كانت صعبة للغاية علينا جميعاً.. ما أثر فيّ أكثر من أي شيء آخر هو صبركم، وانضباطكم، وطيبتكم أيضاً. لا أستطيع تخيل الإبحار في هذه الظروف مع مجموعة أفضل منكم».
وأضاف دوبروغوفسكي، الذي أشاد بشجاعة طاقمه وتفانيهم: «أفكارنا مع الذين لم يعودوا بيننا.. مهما قلت لن يخفف ذلك من الألم، لكن أود أن تعلموا أنهم معنا كل يوم في قلوبنا وأفكارنا» وختم رسالته بدعاء: «أتمنى شيئاً واحداً فقط.. أن يعود الجميع ركاباً وطاقماً إلى منازلهم بسلام وبصحة جيدة».
جاءت الرسالة بعد أيام من التوتر، إذ أبحرت السفينة إلى جزر الكناري عقب رفض بعض الموانئ استقبالها، وتم إجلاء الركاب تحت إشراف السلطات الصحية الإسبانية مع إجراءات عزل صارمة، وبقي عدد محدود من أفراد الطاقم على متن «هونديوس» التي بدأت رحلتها الأخيرة باتجاه روتردام بهولندا.
وكان تفشي فايروس هانتا الذي يسبب أعراضاً تنفسية حادة في بعض الحالات على متن السفينة قد أثار حالة من القلق العالمي، خصوصاً بعد الإبلاغ عن وفيات وإصابات مؤكدة، إلا أن التعامل المهني من قبل الطاقم والركاب حوّل الأزمة إلى نموذج للوحدة والصمود في وجه الشدائد.
يذكر أن سفينة الرحلات الاستكشافية «إم.في هونديوس» التابعة لشركة Oceanwide Expeditions، شهدت تفشياً لفايروس هانتا النادر والخطير، الذي ينتقل عادة من القوارض.
In a touching human moment, the captain of the expedition cruise ship "MV Hondius," Jan Dobrogowski, sent a heartfelt video message to the passengers and crew members just hours after the successful evacuation of most passengers from the ship, which experienced an outbreak of the Hanta virus.
The captain said in the message published by Oceanwide Expeditions: "The past weeks have been extremely difficult for all of us.. What affected me more than anything else was your patience, your discipline, and your kindness as well. I cannot imagine sailing in these conditions with a better group than you."
Dobrogowski, who praised the courage and dedication of his crew, added: "Our thoughts are with those who are no longer with us.. No matter what I say, it will not lessen the pain, but I want you to know that they are with us every day in our hearts and thoughts." He concluded his message with a prayer: "I wish for just one thing.. that everyone, both passengers and crew, returns home safely and in good health."
The message came after days of tension, as the ship sailed to the Canary Islands after some ports refused to receive it, and passengers were evacuated under the supervision of Spanish health authorities with strict isolation measures in place. A limited number of crew members remained on board the "Hondius," which began its final journey towards Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
The outbreak of the Hanta virus, which causes severe respiratory symptoms in some cases on board the ship, raised global concern, especially after reports of confirmed deaths and infections. However, the professional handling by the crew and passengers turned the crisis into a model of unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
It is worth noting that the expedition cruise ship "MV Hondius," owned by Oceanwide Expeditions, experienced an outbreak of the rare and dangerous Hanta virus, which is typically transmitted from rodents.
