أعلنت الشرطة الفيدرالية البرازيلية، اليوم (الجمعة)، حصيلة دامية للحوادث المرورية التي شهدتها الطرق السريعة خلال فترة احتفالات الكرنفال لعام 2026، حيث لقي 130 شخصاً مصرعهم، وأصيب 1481 آخر في 1241 حادثا مروريا مسجلاً على الطرق الفيدرالية خلال الفترة من 13 إلى 18 فبراير.
وأوضحت الشرطة في بيانها الرسمي أن هذه الأرقام تمثل ارتفاعاً كبيراً مقارنة بالعام الماضي 2025، حيث سُجل حينها 85 قتيلاً و1433 مصاباً في 1190 حادثاً، أي زيادة بنسبة تقارب 53% في عدد الوفيات، و4.3% في عدد الحوادث، و8.5% في الحوادث الخطيرة.
ووصفت الشرطة الفيدرالية البرازيلية هذا الكرنفال بأنه الأكثر عنفاً وفتكاً على الطرق منذ عام 2020، رغم تكثيف عمليات التفتيش والمراقبة.
وأشارت الإحصاءات إلى أن الشرطة الفيدرالية فحصت أكثر من 326 ألف مركبة، وأجرت 118 ألف اختبار كحول، فيما سجلت مخالفات جسيمة شملت أكثر من 50 ألف حالة تجاوز للسرعة، و9 آلاف حالة تجاوز غير قانوني، إضافة إلى 2400 مخالفة تتعلق بالقيادة تحت تأثير الكحول.
وشهدت الولايات الأكثر ازدحاماً، مثل ريو دي جانيرو وساو باولو وميناس جيرايس، ضغطاً هائلاً على شبكات الطرق، حيث سجلت هذه المناطق النسبة الأكبر من الوفيات والإصابات الحرجة.
وأكدت فرق الإسعاف والدفاع المدني أنها استجابت لمئات النداءات على مدار الساعة، إلا أن شدة الاصطدامات في بعض الحوادث جعلت من الصعب إنقاذ الضحايا في موقع الحادث.
ويُعد الكرنفال البرازيلي أكبر مهرجان شعبي في العالم، حيث يجذب ملايين السياح والمواطنين إلى شوارع ريو دي جانيرو وساو باولو وسالفادور وغيرها من المدن الكبرى.
ويمتد الاحتفال عادةً لعدة أيام غالباً من الجمعة إلى الأربعاء، ويتزامن مع عطلة طويلة تدفع مئات الآلاف للسفر عبر الطرق السريعة بين الولايات للمشاركة في الاحتفالات أو العودة إلى منازلهم.
لكن هذه الفترة تشهد سنوياً ارتفاعاً حاداً في حوادث السير، نتيجة عوامل متراكمة أبرزها: القيادة تحت تأثير الكحول، السرعة الزائدة، الإرهاق، والازدحام الشديد، إضافة إلى ضعف الانضباط المروري في بعض المناطق.
وتحتل البرازيل المرتبة الثالثة عالمياً في عدد وفيات حوادث الطرق بعد الهند والصين، وفقاً لمنظمة الصحة العالمية.
وحذرت السلطات من أن الأرقام المعلنة اليوم تمثل حصيلة أولية، وقد ترتفع مع استكمال التحقيقات في بعض الحوادث الجماعية التي شهدتها ولايات مختلفة.
The Brazilian federal police announced today (Friday) a bloody toll from traffic accidents that occurred on the highways during the Carnival celebrations of 2026, where 130 people lost their lives, and 1,481 others were injured in 1,241 recorded traffic accidents on federal roads from February 13 to 18.
The police clarified in their official statement that these figures represent a significant increase compared to last year, 2025, when there were 85 fatalities and 1,433 injuries in 1,190 accidents, marking an increase of nearly 53% in the number of deaths, 4.3% in the number of accidents, and 8.5% in serious accidents.
The Brazilian federal police described this Carnival as the most violent and deadly on the roads since 2020, despite intensified inspection and monitoring operations.
Statistics indicated that the federal police inspected more than 326,000 vehicles and conducted 118,000 alcohol tests, while recording serious violations that included more than 50,000 speeding cases, 9,000 illegal overtaking cases, in addition to 2,400 violations related to driving under the influence of alcohol.
The most crowded states, such as Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Minas Gerais, experienced tremendous pressure on their road networks, with these areas recording the highest rates of fatalities and critical injuries.
Emergency and civil defense teams confirmed that they responded to hundreds of calls around the clock, but the severity of collisions in some accidents made it difficult to rescue victims at the accident site.
The Brazilian Carnival is considered the largest popular festival in the world, attracting millions of tourists and citizens to the streets of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador, and other major cities.
The celebration usually lasts for several days, often from Friday to Wednesday, coinciding with a long holiday that drives hundreds of thousands to travel on the highways between states to participate in the celebrations or return to their homes.
However, this period annually witnesses a sharp rise in traffic accidents due to accumulated factors, most notably: driving under the influence of alcohol, excessive speed, fatigue, and severe congestion, in addition to weak traffic discipline in some areas.
Brazil ranks third in the world in the number of road traffic fatalities, following India and China, according to the World Health Organization.
The authorities warned that the figures announced today represent a preliminary toll and may rise as investigations continue into some mass accidents that occurred in various states.
