بعد أعوام طويلة من الغموض، انقلب مسار إحدى أكثر القضايا تعقيداً في النمسا بعدما اعترف صديقٌ سابق بقتل شابة اختفت قبل نحو ثماني سنوات في العاصمة فيينا، ثم إخفاء جثتها داخل ميدان تدريب عسكري. الإعلان الجديد، وفق ما أكده المتحدث باسم الشرطة والمدعون العامون، مثّل التطور الأبرز في حادثة شغلت الرأي العام لسنوات.
وتعود القصة إلى يناير من عام 2018، حين أُبلغ عن فقدان شابة كانت تبلغ من العمر 21 عاماً بعد تغيّبها المفاجئ عن عملها. ومنذ اللحظة الأولى، توجّهت الشكوك نحو شريكها السابق الذي كان في الـ24 من عمره، لكنه أكد آنذاك أن العلاقة انتهت قبل اختفائها. ورغم تفتيش شقتها بشكل موسّع، لم تتمكن الشرطة الجنائية من العثور على أي مؤشر لحدوث عنف.
عمليات البحث الواسعة التي شارك فيها مئات الضباط وكلاب التتبع ومعدات الحفر، إلى جانب النداءات العامة، لم تُسفر عن أي خيط يوضح مصير الشابة. لكن نقطة التحول جاءت هذا العام، حين وصلت إلى المحققين رسالة صوتية مستخرجة من محادثة عبر الإنترنت، بدا فيها المشتبه به متحدثاً عن «كيفية التخلص من جثة دون ترك أي آثار».
وقال المحقق فولفجانج ليهنر إن تلك الرسالة، إضافة إلى الضغوط المتزايدة والاستجوابات المتلاحقة وحادثة عنف حديثة تتعلق بامرأة أخرى، دفعت المشتبه به البالغ من العمر ٣٢ عاماً إلى الاعتراف. وأوضح أنه قام بخنق الشابة بعد أن أبلغته برغبتها في الانفصال، ثم نقل الجثة إلى ميدان تدريب تابع للقوات المسلحة بالقرب من فيينا، حيث أخفاها تحت الأوراق والأغصان.
وبعد إعادة فتح التحقيقات بناءً على الاعتراف، أعلنت السلطات العثور على رفات الضحية في الموقع ذاته، لتُغلق أخيراً واحدة من أكثر حوادث الاختفاء غموضاً في البلاد.
After many years of ambiguity, the course of one of the most complicated cases in Austria changed when a former friend confessed to killing a young woman who disappeared about eight years ago in the capital, Vienna, and then hiding her body inside a military training ground. The new announcement, as confirmed by the police spokesperson and prosecutors, represented the most significant development in an incident that has occupied public opinion for years.
The story dates back to January 2018, when a 21-year-old woman was reported missing after her sudden absence from work. From the very first moment, suspicions turned towards her former partner, who was 24 at the time, but he insisted then that the relationship had ended before her disappearance. Despite an extensive search of her apartment, the criminal police were unable to find any indication of violence.
The extensive search operations, which involved hundreds of officers, tracking dogs, and excavation equipment, along with public appeals, yielded no leads clarifying the young woman's fate. However, the turning point came this year when investigators received a voice message extracted from an online conversation, in which the suspect appeared to be talking about "how to dispose of a body without leaving any traces."
Investigator Wolfgang Lehner stated that this message, along with increasing pressure, successive interrogations, and a recent incident of violence involving another woman, led the 32-year-old suspect to confess. He explained that he had strangled the young woman after she informed him of her desire to break up, then transported the body to a military training ground near Vienna, where he hid it under leaves and branches.
After reopening the investigations based on the confession, authorities announced the discovery of the victim's remains at the same site, finally closing one of the most mysterious disappearance cases in the country.
