نجا وزير المناجم في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية لويس واتوم كامبابا والوفد المرافق له، صباح أمس (الإثنين)، من حادث تحطم طائرة أثناء هبوطها في مطار كولويزي بمقاطعة لوالابا جنوبي البلاد، دون تسجيل إصابات بين الركاب أو الطاقم.
وقالت مصادر محلية إن الطائرة، وهي من طراز «إمبراير إي آر جي 145» تابعة لشركة «إيرجيت أنغولا» كانت تقل كامبابا من مدينة لوبومباشي إلى كولويزي، حيث هبطت قبل عتبة المدرج ما أدى إلى انهيار عجلاتها الرئيسية وخروجها عن المسار، قبل أن تشتعل النيران في ذيلها.
وتمكنت فرق الطوارئ من إجلاء جميع الركاب البالغ عددهم 29 شخصا، بينهم وزير المناجم، فيما احترقت الطائرة بالكامل.
وأظهرت مقاطع مصورة تداولها ناشطون على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي ألسنة اللهب تتصاعد من الطائرة، بينما هرع مواطنون وفرق الإنقاذ إلى موقع الحادث.
ويأتي الحادث بعد أقل من 48 ساعة على كارثة انهيار منجم في منطقة كالاندو قرب قرية مولوندو، التي أسفرت عن مقتل ما لا يقل عن 49 من عمال المناجم الحرفيين.
وكان الوزير الكونغولي قد توجه إلى المنطقة لتفقد موقع الكارثة وتقديم التعازي لأسر الضحايا، في مهمة وُصفت بأنها إنسانية وطارئة.
وأعلنت السلطات فتح تحقيق موسع لتحديد الأسباب الدقيقة للحادث، وسط ترجيحات بوجود خلل فني في عملية الهبوط.
The Minister of Mines in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Louis Watum Kambaba, and his accompanying delegation survived a plane crash yesterday morning (Monday) while landing at Kolwezi Airport in the Lualaba Province in the south of the country, with no injuries reported among the passengers or crew.
Local sources stated that the aircraft, an "Embraer ERJ 145" belonging to "Airjet Angola," was transporting Kambaba from the city of Lubumbashi to Kolwezi when it landed short of the runway threshold, causing its main wheels to collapse and the plane to veer off the path before catching fire at the tail.
Emergency teams managed to evacuate all 29 passengers, including the Minister of Mines, while the plane was completely engulfed in flames.
Videos circulated by activists on social media showed flames rising from the aircraft, as citizens and rescue teams rushed to the scene of the incident.
The incident comes less than 48 hours after a mining disaster in the Kalandu area near the village of Molundo, which resulted in the deaths of at least 49 artisanal miners.
The Congolese minister had traveled to the area to inspect the disaster site and offer condolences to the victims' families, in a mission described as humanitarian and urgent.
The authorities announced the launch of a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact causes of the incident, amid indications of a possible technical failure during the landing process.
