في تطور مثير للجدل يعكس التوترات داخل جدران سجن لاسانتي التاريخي، أفاد مكتب المدعي العام في باريس، بفتح تحقيق عاجل في تهديدات قتل وجهت للرئيس الفرنسي السابق نيكولا ساركوزي، بعد أقل من 24 ساعة من دخوله السجن لبدء تنفيذ حكم بالسجن خمس سنوات بتهمة التآمر الجنائي في تمويل حملته الانتخابية عام 2007 من قبل نظام الزعيم الليبي الراحل معمر القذافي.
وأكد وزير الداخلية الفرنسي لوران نونيز، أن ساركوزي سيحظى بحراسة شرطية دائمة داخل السجن، مع وجود شرطيين مسلحين في زنزانتين مجاورتين له، لمواجهة «التهديدات الواضحة» التي يواجهها، في خطوة غير مسبوقة لأول رئيس سابق يدخل السجن في فرنسا منذ الحرب العالمية الثانية.
سجن ساركوزي
ودخل ساركوزي، البالغ من العمر 70 عاماً والذي حكم فرنسا من 2007 إلى 2012، سجن لاسانتي يوم الثلاثاء 21 أكتوبر صباحاً، بعد حكم محكمة باريس في 25 سبتمبر الماضي الذي أكدته محكمة الاستئناف.
ووصف الدخول بأنه «لحظة تاريخية»، حيث ودعته زوجته، العارضة الإيطالية كارلا بروني، أمام منزلهما في باريس وسط حشود من المؤيدين الذين رفعوا صوراً قديمة لحملاته الانتخابية، لكنه سرعان ما واجه ليلة «مرعبة»، حيث أطلق سجناء آخرون تهديدات وسخرية من طول قامته (165 سم)، مرددين عبارات مثل «مرحباً بك يا ساركو!» و«ساركوزي هنا!»، وفقاً لفيديوهات انتشرت على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي.

في 22 أكتوبر، أبلغ مدير سجن لاسانتي مكتب المدعي العام بفيديو انتشر على وسائل التواصل، صُور بوضوح داخل السجن بواسطة سجين، يهدد فيه ساركوزي صراحةً بـ«الانتقام من القذافي» و«نحن نعرف كل شيء يا ساركو»، مشيراً إلى زياد تاكي الدين، الوسيط اللبناني الذي مات في ظروف غامضة هذا العام بعد اتهامه بكونه الوسيط بين القذافي وساركوزي.
استجواب 3 سجناء
وأدى ذلك إلى استجواب ثلاثة سجناء مشتبه بهم، وإجراء تفتيش إداري أسفر عن مصادرة هاتفين محمولين، ما يُعد انتهاكاً لقواعد السجن الصارمة، وأكد مكتب المدعي أن التحقيق يركز على «التهديدات بالقتل»، وساركوزي ينوي رفع دعوى مدنية ضدهم.
مكان احتجاز ساركوزي
ويُحتجز ساركوزي في جناح العزل (الـ«VIP» كما يُلقب)، الذي يضم 19 زنزانة فردية بمساحة 9 أمتار مربعة، مع ساحة تمارين خاصة لتجنب الاختلاط مع السجناء الآخرين، الذين يشملون تجار مخدرات ومتهمين بجرائم إرهابية.
ومع ذلك، يمكن سماع الصيحات من الزنازن المجاورة، ما يزيد من التوتر النفسي. وأعربت نقابات حراس السجون عن غضبها من عدم إخطارهم بالحراسة الشرطية، معتبرة أنها تزيد من الضغط على الموظفين داخل السجن المزدحم (1,243 سجيناً مقابل سعة 657).

In a controversial development reflecting tensions within the walls of the historic La Santé prison, the Paris public prosecutor's office reported the opening of an urgent investigation into death threats directed at former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, less than 24 hours after he entered the prison to begin serving a five-year sentence for criminal conspiracy in financing his 2007 election campaign by the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez confirmed that Sarkozy would have permanent police protection inside the prison, with armed officers stationed in two adjacent cells to address the "clear threats" he faces, in an unprecedented move for the first former president to enter prison in France since World War II.
Sarkozy's Imprisonment
Sarkozy, who is 70 years old and served as president of France from 2007 to 2012, entered La Santé prison on the morning of Tuesday, October 21, following a ruling by the Paris court on September 25 that was upheld by the appeals court.
His entry was described as a "historic moment," as he was seen off by his wife, Italian model Carla Bruni, in front of their home in Paris amid crowds of supporters holding up old campaign posters. However, he soon faced a "terrifying" night, as other inmates hurled threats and mocked his height (165 cm), chanting phrases like "Welcome, Sarko!" and "Sarkozy is here!" according to videos that circulated on social media.
A Viral Video and Accelerating Investigation
On October 22, the director of La Santé prison informed the public prosecutor's office about a video that went viral on social media, clearly filmed inside the prison by an inmate, in which Sarkozy was openly threatened with "revenge from Gaddafi" and "We know everything, Sarko," referring to Ziad Takieddine, the Lebanese intermediary who died under mysterious circumstances this year after being accused of being the go-between for Gaddafi and Sarkozy.
Interrogation of 3 Inmates
This led to the interrogation of three suspected inmates and an administrative search that resulted in the seizure of two mobile phones, which is considered a violation of the strict prison rules. The prosecutor's office confirmed that the investigation focuses on "death threats," and Sarkozy intends to file a civil lawsuit against them.
Sarkozy's Detention Location
Sarkozy is held in the isolation wing (referred to as "VIP"), which contains 19 single cells measuring 9 square meters, with a private exercise yard to avoid mixing with other inmates, including drug dealers and those accused of terrorist crimes.
However, shouts can be heard from the neighboring cells, increasing psychological tension. Prison guard unions expressed their anger at not being notified about the police protection, considering it adds pressure on staff within the overcrowded prison (1,243 inmates versus a capacity of 657).
From a security standpoint, police protection inside the prison is unprecedented, allowing Sarkozy three visits a week and daily meals, in addition to purchasing supplies to prepare his own food.
Sarkozy announced that he is not afraid and will use the time to write a new book, but he warned of the "unlimited hatred" he faces. Meanwhile, Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin, a former student of Sarkozy, confirmed he would visit him soon in his official capacity.
