أعلنت وزارة الداخلية الكويتية أن جهاز أمن الدولة ضبط مقيما عربيا ينتمي لجماعة محظورة وخطط لعملية إرهابية تستهدف دور العبادة.
وقالت الوزارة، في بيان: «في إطار الجهود الاستباقية الحثيثة التي تبذلها وزارة الداخلية لحماية أمن البلاد وصون استقرارها، تمكنت الأجهزة الأمنية ممثلة بجهاز أمن الدولة من إلقاء القبض على مقيم عربي الجنسية ينتمي إلى جماعة محظورة تستهدف النيل من أمن الكويت وزعزعة نظمها الأساسية، وذلك بعد أن تبيّن تخطيطه لتنفيذ عملية إرهابية تفجيرية تستهدف دور العبادة».
وأضافت: «أسفرت التحريات الدقيقة عن ضبط المتهم بعد متابعة ورصد، إذ عُثر في مقر سكنه على عدد من الأجهزة والمواد التي تدخل في صناعة المفرقعات، إضافةً إلى طرق تحضيرها واستعمالها، مما يثبت خطورة المخطط الذي كان يسعى لتنفيذه».
وأكدت الوزارة أنها بالمرصاد وبكل حزم لكل من تسوّل له نفسه المساس بأمن البلاد أو تهديد سلامة المجتمع، وأنها لن تسمح بأي حالٍ من الأحوال بمثل هذه المخططات الإرهابية، وستتصدى لها بكل قوة وحزم، حفاظا على أمن الوطن وأمان المواطنين والمقيمين.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced that the State Security Agency has apprehended an Arab resident belonging to a banned group who was planning a terrorist operation targeting places of worship.
The ministry stated in a statement: "As part of the diligent proactive efforts made by the Ministry of Interior to protect the security of the country and maintain its stability, the security agencies, represented by the State Security Agency, were able to arrest an Arab resident belonging to a banned group that aims to undermine the security of Kuwait and destabilize its fundamental systems, after it became clear that he was planning to carry out a bombing terrorist operation targeting places of worship."
It added: "Thorough investigations led to the apprehension of the suspect after monitoring and surveillance, as a number of devices and materials used in the manufacture of explosives were found at his residence, in addition to methods of preparation and use, which proves the seriousness of the plot he was seeking to execute."
The ministry confirmed that it is vigilant and resolute against anyone who dares to threaten the security of the country or the safety of the community, and that it will not allow any such terrorist plots under any circumstances, and will confront them with all strength and determination, in order to preserve the security of the homeland and the safety of citizens and residents.
