شهد شاطئ أبو تلات في منطقة العجمي بمحافظة الإسكندرية في مصر حادثة غرق جماعي مروعة أودت بحياة 6 طالبات وأصابت 24 أخريات، خلال رحلة نظمتها إحدى الأكاديميات المتخصصة في تدريب الضيافة الجوية، إذ تحولت الرحلة، التي كانت تهدف إلى تعزيز الترابط بين الطالبات، إلى كارثة هزت المجتمع المصري.

ودفعت الحادثة السلطات المصرية إلى تكثيف جهود الإنقاذ وفتح تحقيق عاجل للوقوف على أسباب الحادثة، إذ تمكنت فرق الإنقاذ من انتشال جثامين الطالبات الست المتوفيات، وما زالت التحقيقات جارية لتحديد ملابسات الحادثة ومدى التزام الأكاديمية بإجراءات السلامة.
ووفقاً لبيانات وزارة الصحة والسكان المصرية، وقعت الحادثة في وقت مبكر من صباح السبت عندما نزلت مجموعة من الطالبات إلى شاطئ أبو تلات، على الرغم من رفع الرايات الحمراء التي تحذر من السباحة بسبب ارتفاع الأمواج واضطراب البحر، كما أعلنت الإدارة المركزية للسياحة والمصايف بالإسكندرية مسبقاً.
وتلقت هيئة الإسعاف المصرية بلاغاً عاجلاً، فتم الدفع بـ16 سيارة إسعاف مجهزة إلى الموقع، إذ تم إسعاف 3 مصابات ميدانياً، ونقل 13 إلى مستشفى العجمي التخصصي، و8 إلى مستشفى العامرية العام لتلقي العلاج وفق بروتوكولات التعامل مع حالات الغرق.

وأكد نائب رئيس الوزراء وزير الصحة والسكان الدكتور خالد عبدالغفار أن الوزارة تتابع عن كثب حالة المصابات، موجهاً بتوفير كافة سبل الرعاية الطبية والدعم النفسي للضحايا وأسرهم. في الوقت نفسه، تتابع وزيرة التضامن الاجتماعي الدكتورة مايا مرسي تداعيات الحادثة، موجهة فرق الإغاثة بالهلال الأحمر المصري ومديرية التضامن الاجتماعي بالإسكندرية لتقديم التدخلات الإغاثية اللازمة.
وتُعد شواطئ العجمي، خصوصاً شاطئ أبو تلات، وجهة سياحية شعبية في الإسكندرية، لكنها تشهد حوادث غرق متكررة بسبب التيارات البحرية القوية وارتفاع الأمواج، خصوصاً في موسم الصيف، وفي يوليو 2021، رفعت الإسكندرية الرايات الحمراء على شواطئ العجمي بعد غرق 6 أشخاص، بينهم 3 من عائلة واحدة، مما يعكس المخاطر المستمرة في هذه المنطقة.
وأعربت وزارة الصحة عن حزنها العميق لفقدان 6 أرواح، مقدمة التعازي لأسر الضحايا، مؤكدة التزامها بدعم المصابات، كما وجهت وزيرة التضامن الاجتماعي بتقديم مساعدات فورية للأسر المتضررة، مع التنسيق مع الهلال الأحمر المصري لتوفير الدعم النفسي والمادي، ودعت السلطات المحلية إلى فتح تحقيق عاجل للوقوف على أسباب الحادثة، مع التركيز على مدى التزام الأكاديمية بقوانين السلامة وما إذا كانت قد تجاهلت تحذيرات السباحة.
وأثارت الحادثة موجة من الحزن والغضب في الأوساط المصرية، مع مطالبات بتشديد الرقابة على الرحلات الطلابية وتحسين إجراءات السلامة على الشواطئ، كما دعا نشطاء على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي إلى ضرورة توعية الشباب بمخاطر السباحة في المناطق غير الآمنة، خصوصاً في ظل الظروف الجوية غير المستقرة.
The Abu Tlat beach in the Al-Ajami area of Alexandria Governorate in Egypt witnessed a horrific mass drowning incident that claimed the lives of 6 female students and injured 24 others during a trip organized by one of the academies specializing in training for air hospitality. The incident prompted Egyptian authorities to intensify rescue efforts and open an urgent investigation to determine the causes of the incident. Rescue teams managed to recover the bodies of the six deceased students, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances of the incident and the academy's adherence to safety procedures.
According to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, the incident occurred early on Saturday morning when a group of students went down to Abu Tlat beach, despite the red flags being raised warning against swimming due to high waves and rough seas, as previously announced by the Central Administration for Tourism and Beaches in Alexandria.
The Egyptian Ambulance Authority received an urgent report, and 16 equipped ambulances were dispatched to the site, where 3 injured individuals were treated on-site, and 13 were transported to Al-Ajami Specialized Hospital, while 8 were taken to Al-Amiriya General Hospital for treatment according to protocols for dealing with drowning cases.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, confirmed that the ministry is closely monitoring the condition of the injured, directing the provision of all necessary medical care and psychological support for the victims and their families. At the same time, Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, is following up on the repercussions of the incident, directing relief teams from the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Alexandria Directorate of Social Solidarity to provide the necessary relief interventions.
The beaches of Al-Ajami, especially Abu Tlat beach, are a popular tourist destination in Alexandria, but they experience recurring drowning incidents due to strong currents and high waves, especially during the summer season. In July 2021, Alexandria raised red flags on the beaches of Al-Ajami after 6 people drowned, including 3 from the same family, reflecting the ongoing risks in this area.
