أعلنت السلطات المحلية في المكسيك أن أعمال شغب اندلعت داخل سجن بولاية «فيراكروز» شرقي البلاد، ما أسفر عن مقتل 7 سجناء وإصابة 11 آخرين.
وأكد راديو (فرنسا الدولى)، أن أعمال الشغب اندلعت في سجن بمدينة «توكسبان» واستمرت طوال الليل.. مضيفا أنه في الصباح، تمكنت قوات الأمن، بدعم من الجيش، من دخول السجن لاستعادة النظام.
ووفقا لتقارير صحفية محلية مكسيكية، بدأ السجناء أعمال الشغب لمطالبة السلطات بضمان سلامتهم من سجناء ينتمون إلى خلية إجرامية عنيفة.
يشار إلى أن «كارتلات المخدرات» تخوض معارك فيما بينها في ولاية «فيراكروز»، حيث تنفذ عمليات خطف وسرقة وابتزاز.. وفي كثير من الأحيان، تنتقل الصراعات بين الكارتلات الإجرامية إلى السجون المكسيكية التي يعاني معظمها من مشاكل مزمنة مثل الاكتظاظ.
The local authorities in Mexico announced that riots broke out inside a prison in the state of "Veracruz" in the east of the country, resulting in the deaths of 7 inmates and injuries to 11 others.
Radio France International confirmed that the riots erupted in a prison in the city of "Tuxpan" and continued throughout the night. It added that in the morning, security forces, supported by the army, were able to enter the prison to restore order.
According to local Mexican media reports, the inmates started the riots to demand that authorities ensure their safety from prisoners belonging to a violent criminal cell.
It is worth noting that "drug cartels" are engaged in battles with each other in the state of "Veracruz," where they carry out kidnappings, thefts, and extortion. Often, conflicts between criminal cartels spill over into Mexican prisons, most of which suffer from chronic problems such as overcrowding.
