ضرب زلزال بلغت قوته 6.5 درجة على مقياس ريختر اليوم قبالة سواحل جزر أندامان ونيكوبار الهندية، دون أن يتسبّب بإطلاق تحذير من خطر حدوث «تسونامي».
وذكرت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية أن الزلزال وقع في الساعة 00:12 بالتوقيت المحلّي (18:42 ت غ)، على بُعد 259 كيلومتراً شمال غرب سابانغ، المدينة الواقعة في إقليم آتشيه غربي إندونيسيا.
ولم ترد أنباء حتى الآن عن وقوع خسائر بشرية أو أضرار مادية جراء الزلزال، فيما لم تصدر تنبيهات عن حدوث موجات مد عاتية (تسونامي).
A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck today off the coast of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India, without triggering a tsunami warning.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at 00:12 local time (18:42 UTC), about 259 kilometers northwest of Sabang, a city located in the Aceh province of western Indonesia.
No reports of casualties or material damage have been received so far due to the earthquake, and no alerts have been issued for the occurrence of tsunami waves.
