لقي ستة أشخاص مصرعهم إثر تحطم طائرة صغيرة بعد وقت قصير من إقلاعها من مطار يونجزتاون وارن الإقليمي في ولاية أوهايو الأمريكية.
وذكرت إدارة الطيران الفيدرالية الأمريكية في بيان، أن الطائرة، وهي من طراز سيسنا 441، سقطت بالقرب من المطار، فيما لا تزال فرق الطوارئ موجودة في موقع الحادث لمتابعة عمليات التحقيق والإنقاذ.
وأكد المدير التنفيذي لهيئة ميناء ويسترن ريزيرف أنتوني تريفينا، في مؤتمر صحفي، عدم وجود ناجين، مشيراً إلى أنه تم نقل جثامين الضحايا إلى مكتب الطبيب الشرعي في مقاطعة ترومبول، دون الكشف عن هوياتهم في هذه المرحلة.
من جانبه، أوضح رئيس إدارة الإطفاء في بلدة هاولاند ريموند بيس، أن الوصول إلى موقع التحطم كان صعباً، مشدداً على أن الحادث كان مأساوياً، لكنه أشار في الوقت ذاته إلى أن الأمور كان يمكن أن تسوء أكثر نظراً لوجود ثلاثة منازل قريبة من مكان سقوط الطائرة.
Six people were killed when a small plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Youngstown Warren Regional Airport in Ohio, USA.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated in a press release that the aircraft, a Cessna 441, fell near the airport, while emergency teams are still on-site to continue investigation and rescue operations.
Anthony Trevina, the executive director of the Western Reserve Port Authority, confirmed in a press conference that there were no survivors, noting that the bodies of the victims were transported to the Trumbull County coroner's office, without disclosing their identities at this stage.
For his part, Raymond Bace, the fire chief of Howland Township, explained that access to the crash site was difficult, emphasizing that the incident was tragic, but he also pointed out that things could have been worse given the proximity of three homes near where the plane fell.
