أعلن رئيس الإكوادور دانيال نوبوا، الأربعاء، أن خوسيه أدولفو ماسياس «فيتو» زعيم عصابة «لوس تشونيروس» والذي فر العام الماضي من السجن وأصبح «المطلوب الأول» للسلطات، أعيد اعتقاله مجدداً.
وكتب نوبوا في منشور على منصة «إكس»: «إلى أولئك الذين عارضوا وشككوا في ضرورة قوانين التضامن والاستخبارات: بفضل تلك القوانين، تم القبض على (فيتو) اليوم وهو الآن في قبضة الأمن».
وأضاف الرئيس: «تحية تقدير لرجال الشرطة والجيش الذين شاركوا في هذه العملية. سيسقط المزيد، وسنستعيد الوطن بلا هوادة».
وتابع: «لقد بذلنا قصارى جهدنا للمضي قدمًا في تسليم فيتو إلى الولايات المتحدة، وننتظر ردكم. مساء الخير، الإكوادور».
وكان زعيم عصابة تهريب المخدرات الأخطر والأكبر في الإكوادور قد فرّ من سجن «غواياكيل» جنوب غرب في يناير 2024، ما أثار موجة عنف غير مسبوقة في البلاد.
وتداولت حسابات ومنصات إخبارية في الإكوادور ما قالت إنه المخبأ الذي كان يختبئ بداخله ماسياس، حيث تظهر فتحة سرية في أحد المخازن القديمة تقود إلى مكان إقامة «فيتو».
خوسيه أدلفو ماسياس «فيتو» البالغ من العمر 44 عاماً هو زعيم أخطر عصابة في الإكوادور ونجح في الفرار من السجن قبل عام.
وتسبب فراره بإشعال حالة فوضى عارمة في الإكوادور، أدت إلى إعلان حالة الطوارئ بعد سقوط قتلى ومصابين، إثر اشتباكات بين الأمن وعصابات المخدرات في البلد.
وظهر اسم خوسيه أدلفو ماسياس قبل سنوات، كزعيم لعصابة «لوس تشونيروس»، التي تحالفت مع«كارتل سينالوا» أشهر عصابات المخدرات المكسيكية.
وذكرت التقارير الأمنية في الإكوادور أن «فيتو» تحول إلى واحد من أشهر زعماء العصابات في العالم، حتى أن البعض شبهه ببابلو إسكوبار المكسيك.
وفي عام 2011 ألقت السلطات في الإكوادور القبض على ماسياس وأودعته «السجن رقم 8» في غواياكيل لقضاء عقوبة السجن لمدة 34 سنة.
On Wednesday, Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa announced that José Adolfo Macías "Vito," the leader of the "Los Choneros" gang who escaped from prison last year and became the "most wanted" by authorities, has been re-arrested.
Noboa wrote in a post on the "X" platform: "To those who opposed and doubted the necessity of the solidarity and intelligence laws: thanks to those laws, (Vito) was captured today and is now in the custody of security."
The president added: "A salute of appreciation to the police and army personnel who participated in this operation. More will fall, and we will reclaim our homeland relentlessly."
He continued: "We have done our utmost to proceed with the extradition of Vito to the United States, and we await your response. Good evening, Ecuador."
The leader of the most dangerous and largest drug trafficking gang in Ecuador had escaped from the "Guayaquil" prison in the southwest in January 2024, triggering an unprecedented wave of violence in the country.
News accounts and platforms in Ecuador circulated what they claimed was the hideout where Macías was hiding, showing a secret opening in one of the old warehouses leading to Vito's residence.

Security reports in Ecuador indicated that "Vito" has become one of the most notorious gang leaders in the world, with some even comparing him to Mexico's Pablo Escobar.
In 2011, authorities in Ecuador arrested Macías and placed him in "Prison No. 8" in Guayaquil to serve a 34-year prison sentence.
