حظي مدرب فريق الاتفاق سعد الشهري بإشادات واسعة من قبل الاتفاقيين وعدد من النقاد الرياضيين، بعد فوز فريقه الاتفاق على نظيره القادسية بثلاثة أهداف مقابل هدفين في ديربي المنطقة الشرقية، ضمن منافسات الجولة الـ27 من دوري روشن السعودي للمحترفين.
واستطاع الشهري إيقاف سلسلة الانتصارات المتتالية التي حققها مدرب فريق القادسية الإيرلندي بريندان رودجرز منذ قدومه في ديسمبر الماضي، إذ لم يخسر معه الفريق القدساوي في 17 مباراة، إلا أن فريق الاتفاق كسر مسلسل الانتصارات بتغلّبه على القادسية أمس، بقيادة المدرب سعد الشهري الذي حقق فوزاً ثميناً على حساب جاره وخطف النقاط الثلاث وأبعده عن المنافسة على لقب الدوري.
من جهته، قال مدرب فريق الاتفاق سعد الشهري: «قدّمنا مباراة مميزة في كثير من فترات اللعب حتى قبل حالة الطرد. كان هناك سجال فني، لكننا تميزنا فنياً واستحقينا الفوز». وأضاف: «الهدف الثاني للقادسية لم يكن يفترض أن يُسجل علينا، وعلينا التعامل مع مثل هذه الحالات بشكل أفضل، لأنها تمنح الفريق المنافس دفعة معنوية، كنا قادرين على حسم المباراة بعد تسجيل الهدف الثالث، وأضعنا عدة فرص، لكن الأهم أننا حققنا النقاط الثلاث، ونريد الاستمرار بهذه الروح وتحقيق المزيد من الانتصارات، وأن نختم الدوري بشكل مميز وفي أعلى مركز ممكن».
The coach of the Al-Ettifaq team, Saad Al-Shahrani, received widespread praise from Al-Ettifaq fans and several sports critics after his team defeated Al-Qadisiyah by three goals to two in the Eastern Region Derby, as part of the 27th round of the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Shahrani was able to halt the consecutive winning streak achieved by the Irish coach of Al-Qadisiyah, Brendan Rodgers, since his arrival last December, as the Al-Qadisiyah team had not lost in 17 matches under his leadership. However, Al-Ettifaq broke the winning streak by overcoming Al-Qadisiyah yesterday, led by coach Saad Al-Shahrani, who secured a valuable victory against their neighbors, snatching the three points and distancing them from the title race.
For his part, Al-Ettifaq coach Saad Al-Shahrani said: "We presented a distinguished match in many periods of play even before the red card. There was a technical exchange, but we excelled technically and deserved the win." He added: "The second goal for Al-Qadisiyah should not have been scored against us, and we need to handle such situations better, as they give the opposing team a morale boost. We were capable of sealing the match after scoring the third goal, and we missed several opportunities, but the important thing is that we achieved the three points, and we want to continue with this spirit and achieve more victories, and to finish the league in a distinguished manner and in the highest possible position."
