The Al-Ahli team regained their winning rhythm after defeating their host Al-Hazm with two goals to none in the match held at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraidah, as part of the fourth round of the Roshen Saudi Professional League.
The match witnessed Al-Ahli's dominance, while Al-Hazm's players retreated and relied on counterattacks. An early opportunity arose after a brilliant counter from Amir Sayoud, who passed a ground ball to his teammate Omar Al-Soma, who shot it low, but Mohammed Suleiman saved it. Al-Ahli responded with an organized attack, where Riyad Mahrez played a high cross that Kessie leaped for and headed, but goalkeeper Bruno Varela saved it, allowing Ivan Toney to shoot at the goal, but defender Sultan Tanek cleared it just in time. Amir Sayoud managed to score for Al-Hazm, but the offside flag was raised. Kessie then responded with a goal for Al-Ahli, but after reviewing the video technology, the goal was disallowed due to a foul at the start of the play. Amir Sayoud was fouled by defender Ibanez, prompting referee Andres Treimanis to return to video technology and award a penalty kick, which captain Fabio Martinez stepped up to take, but goalkeeper Edward Mendy brilliantly saved it.
Al-Ahli was able to score their first goal through Firas Al-Buraikan after a cross from Ali Majrashi, which Al-Buraikan flicked over goalkeeper Varela to find the back of the net as Al-Ahli's first goal (72nd minute). Ali Majrashi then doubled the score after a counterattack he initiated himself, which reached Matheus Gonsalves, who played it back to Majrashi, who struck it powerfully into the net for Al-Ahli's second goal (80th minute), ending the match with Al-Ahli winning two goals to none.
With this result, Al-Ahli achieves their second victory, reaching 8 points, while Al-Hazm suffers their second loss, remaining at only 2 points.
