In a match that lived up to its promises with goals and competitiveness, Al-Ittihad triumphed over its guest Al-Fateh with a score of four goals to two at the Al-Inma Stadium in King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, as part of the second round of the Roshan Saudi Professional League.
Before the match began, Al-Ittihad's coach Laurent Blanc was honored with the award for Best Coach in the Professional League for the last season after leading his team to win the title. The match started strongly from both teams, and from a ball initiated by Saleh Al-Shehri from the midfield, he passed it to Moussa Diaby, who sprinted down the right side and crossed it to his teammate Hossam Aouar, who surpassed Al-Fateh defender Jorge Fernandes and struck it powerfully into the net for Al-Ittihad's first goal (22nd minute). After a skillful display from Mourad Batna, he managed to get past the defender Muath Faqihi and played a cross to striker Matias Vargas, who shot it on the ground powerfully into the Al-Ittihad goal for Al-Fateh's equalizer (33rd minute). Al-Ittihad responded quickly with a second goal from Steven Bergwijn, as Moussa Diaby shone again and played a clever ball over the defenders for Bergwijn to score the second goal (35th minute). From a perfect counter-attack led by Bergwijn, he passed the ball to playmaker Moussa Diaby, who delivered a ground pass to Bergwijn to add his second personal goal and the third for Al-Ittihad (39th minute). Al-Fateh players protested, demanding a foul, led by Mourad Batna, who received a yellow card. Two minutes after the goal, Batna toyed with Al-Ittihad's defense, but Fabinho managed to steal the ball, leading to a foul by Batna. Referee Faisal Al-Balawi did not hesitate to show him a second yellow card, followed by a red card, sending him off the field and leaving Al-Fateh to continue the match with one player less.
In the second half, Al-Ittihad continued its attack, and from a perfect counter-attack by Al-Fateh, Fahd Al-Zubaidi broke through on goal but was fouled by Al-Ittihad's goalkeeper Raikovic, who was shown a direct red card. Substitute goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Absi came on for striker Saleh Al-Shehri, leaving Al-Ittihad to finish the match with ten players.
Al-Fateh managed to reduce the deficit after Sofiane Bendebka earned a penalty, which he successfully converted into Al-Fateh's second goal (69th minute). In stoppage time, Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti scored Al-Ittihad's fourth goal with a powerful ground shot that went between the legs of goalkeeper Bachiko and into the net (90+1 minute), ending the match with Al-Ittihad winning four goals to two.
With this result, Al-Ittihad achieves its second consecutive victory, reaching six points, and will face its host Al-Najma in the next round, while Al-Fateh suffers its second consecutive loss, remaining without points, and will meet its host Al-Hazm in the next round.
