Earlier, Russian media reported, specifically on May 7, that police and volunteers had continued searching for Pavlov since his disappearance on April 28, when he was last seen on the Kuznetsky Bridge in the city of Kemerovo, according to a report published by the RT website. It was announced that the player's body was found on the banks of the Tom River, in the Yashkinsky area, specifically about 10 kilometers from the village of Pacha, nearly 50 kilometers from where he was last seen.

Pavlov had participated this season in the Russian Youth Volleyball League as part of Kuzbass-2, where the team finished the championship in eighth place.
